florida easily declines

Carolina could say yes, but they decided to move Edmundson a few years back, not sure why they trade a 1st to get him back. Depends on how they feel Edmundson makes them a better contender

A Josh Anderson trade occurs during the offseason imo, not deadline

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Canes brought back Eddy. He was pretty good when he played with the Canes, but the cap kind of squeezed him out of Carolina. They Canes however, won’t be making a move for Monahan. They need guys who can stay in the lineup on a consistent basis, which Monahan is incapable of doing. They also aren’t moving Stastny, since that would be a horrific PR move. Imagine taking a discount at the end of your career to sign with a contender for possibly your last chance at a cup, just to be moved at the deadline to a team who is tanking. No veteran player wanting a last shot at the cup would consider signing with the Canes if they move Stastny. All in all, terrible deal for the Canes.

I’ll politely disagree and personally think the Canes would be potentially interested in Monahan, price permitting.

I don’t see them doing an Edmundson re-tread, certainly not at the prices rental D like him seem to go for.

That said, I 100% agree this proposal is awful for the Canes.

Monahan is one of the most unlikely targets, just because he can’t stay in the lineup on a consistent basis. And frankly, they have to replace Patches before considering either a 2C or a 3LD. The Canes aren’t going to pay for a guy to play for the remainder of this year, and just reopen a hole if and potentially when he gets injured again. If they go for a C, someone like Bennett or Reinhart would be so much more likely just because of how cheap they could be acquired for given Florida’s cap situation, as well as having the extra benefit of being a better team fit than Monahan.

As for 3LD, I imagine they go for someone like Gavrikov, Eddy, Ghost, or even Mikkola at the deadline. They probably go for one on the less expensive side so they have more to address the other needs first.

Stastny has a NTC. Edmundson was a pylon for us. I don’t see the draw for us to bring him back.

I wouldn't mind bringing back Edmundson at all. Don't think Monahan really fits the mold of what the canes are looking for in a forward as they need players who can stay healthy and score goals. Outside of that, i don't see them trading their 1st for a rental and they're definately not moving Stastny who's A. played well and B. took a discount to win a cup here and has a NTC.
