Keep lohrei and Lysell out of this

Additional Details:
Reilly was initially a candidate for many teams on the waiver wire but didn’t get claimed because of the tight cap. Oilers need cheap d men and Gavrikov, Edmunston, Chychrun are all expensive. Reilly seems like a good fit.

Why would Vancouver do this? Trade Schenn for a late pick and a complete bust while wasting one of their retention slots?

Because Zboril is still young? And sure the retention slot maybe doesn’t need to happen. But a young d man (what they want) and a 5th is fine value for schenn. Certainly not many deals would beat this one.

What do Bruins fans think Lysell is going to be? Feels like he's overvalued maybe cause he's the only decent prospect in the system. But really what are you expecting from him?

They will get a 2nd plus a mid level prospect for Schenn. He is one of the more coveted pieces right now.

Boston is not retaining on Reilly his buyout is cheaper.

Nosek does not sit, PK and faceoffs to valuable.

Not a fan of bumping Frederic when he is breaking out.

I like the overall concept/targets.

Luke Schenn for Zboril and a 5th is laugh From what's being reported Schenn should easily get a 2nd round pick.

Best current comparison is Conor Garland. Small, productive, middle 6 FW.

Ok ya that is fairly reasonable. Easily would trade him in a package for Horvat if it were at all possible in other words.

Absolutely not. No need for Bo this year, can’t re-sign him. It’s piss poor asset management.

Not really. Better prospect coming into the league. But if you are expecting him to be more than a 50 point guy you are going to be disappointed.

People over value their own prospects. It’s natural. Remember when Studnicka was going to be a top 6 center? Or the couple of guys on here that said Lauko had 1st line potential and could score 30?

Canucks were offered a second round pick last season. Have you not been keeping up to date on deadline deals? Guys like Schenn can easily pull a second or third round pick. Just because Zboril is young, doesn't mean he is good, and plus, he is 25, lets not act like he is even a prospect

That’s what being reported as the asking price, highly highly doubt any teams gives up a 2nd and a mid level prospect for a 7th d man on a good team. 3rd or 4th is much more likely. (My proposed deal is probably a little off)

Boston certainly doesn’t buy out Reilly (even if it’s cheaper) if they get assets back.

Fair on nosek.

“Breaking out” is a stretch but yes he’s playing some great hockey. Rather have insurance and playoff experience in Barbashev. Will still get some offensive opportunities with foligno. I just wouldn’t trust Frederic to produce some big top 9 goals which are crucial in the playoffs.

He leads the league in hits. Blocks shots. Chipped in 16 points. Cheap contract. Playoff tested. Teams will be clamoring for him. Chiarot sucks and he got a 1st, Smilanic, 4th.

Nobody is giving up assets for Reilly. They will hold him as insurance, call him up for the playoffs when there is no cap. Try to move him in the offseason or buy him out. Unless he’s included in a deal to dump him, he’s not being moved.

My proposed deal is what I would do and think would be fair for both sides. No way In hell a smart GM trades a 2nd for a 7th d man. Would much rather Braun or Kulikov. But your probably right, he will fetch a good amount because of the inflated deals at the deadline 🤷‍♂️

The Bruins are literally the perfect hockey team this season. There are zero flaws. It's actually insane. I don't see why they would go out and make these huge additions, especially when it would cost either Lysell or Lohrei, two bright spots in an otherwise bleak prospect pool. Lysell is going to be a stud, and Lohrei looks like the real deal. It's really annoying how good the Bruins are tears of joy

Braun has been terrible.

Compare the 2.

Braun 0 pts 33 hits 35 blocks

Schenn 16 pts 237 hits 75 blocks

In no world should you want Braun over Schenn unless you can trade Reilly straight up for him.

We’ll have to wait and see🤷‍♂️ I’m not hot on the idea of a 2nd being in play for schenn but inflated dumb deadline deals make it possible.

As for Reilly teams would absolutely bite at the chance for mike Reilly. It was already reported that teams like the habs were potentially going to claim him (cap issues) he’s young-ish, good puck mover, and very solid advanced stats. Giving up assets to get rid of him would be a steal for the team on the other end.

Schenn doesn’t play over Clifton, grabbing Shenn is a DEPTH move. And yes I would rather Braun because the cost is probably so cheap.

Cap space was always the issue with Reilly and another year with 3m makes him impossible to move. Teams don’t have the cap space to add him now anymore than they did before, as a rental with prorated cap maybe, that extra year kills that though. Teams know they can add a player of his caliber for 1m ish in free agency.

From a cost standpoint sure, Braun should cost no more than a 5th. Beyond that…you get what you pay for.

I think the idea that “teams can add someone like him for cheaper” stems from the fact he doesn’t play in the league. He would for many other teams. Maybe not at the deadline but certainly the summer would make moving Reilly very easy. A team like the habs or even the Canucks make sense as a fit for Reilly. It’s hard for me to imagine a scenario where assets are given up.

Enjoy the game!
