Coincidentally, Montreal is in exactly the same slot now that Ottawa was in last year -- seventh from the bottom. So it stands to reason that if they're going to move DeBrincat at all, they're going to ask for the very same two top choices -- 7th overall and 39th overall. They're not going to combine DeBrincat with dumping Zaitsev, so you can add one of your prospects for the last element in the 2022 comparable. The Ducks will be happy to take Zaitsev off Ottawa's hands.

I don't know, freeing 8.5m in cap by not signing DeBrincat and getting the 7th pick in a stacked draft seems like an OK return (plus Barron and Farrell) seem like a fair return I the Sens wanted to go that route of not resigning DeBrincat if only for cap reasons.

Maybe the 2023 7th overall pick would be enough, considering 2023 is a way better draft. Personally, i'd rather have the 2023 7th than 2022 7th and 39th.

except that’s Florida’s pick, not Montreal, and it’s not saving 8.5 in cap space because then we have to take on Dvorak and he’s being massively overpaid 4.8 for 3 more years
