Quoting: Caniac2000
He's also not the player he was in recent years and has been dealing with injuries. Other alternatives: Hayes, Toews, possbily Reinhart or Bennett. Or if you want to look away from center, Tarasenko, Kane, Meier, Chychrun... there's not enough leverage to return a 1st for ROR. He's having a down year, his value is really low right now
Ah yes dealing with injuries. The old broken foot from blocking a shot that seems to be peskily slowing him down.
Players with as much recent success as ROR don't lose value to the point where they're traded for a tweener forward who has some upside probably to be a 3C and a 2nd round pick in the next years draft. I doubt that Carolina trades Drury, i also doubt STL has much interest in Drury as the main piece to a deal for either ROR or Tarasenko.
Situations are different, but if you want someone who has playoff experience and success there isn't another center likely on the market aside from Toews. Toews holds pretty much all the cards in his situation, isn't paid out of 90% of his actual salary for the season already, has a higher cap hit, and has struggled for a couple of seasons. Not just 30 games.
That being said, I think Toews would be a great pickup for a team that wants to push into the playoffs. I think ROR would be a better one but thats besides the point. Regardless, even with Toews holding all the cards for his situation, i'd venture to guess he gets a better return than what is proposed here for ROR.
