We are a very good team, if we're healthy. Should get Willy and Dowd out of the All Star break. After that it's just waitingon Carlson.

As for the trade. I don't hate it, but remove the 2nd or make it a late pick.

Canucks decline, no cap space for these moves.

It would have to be Boeser for Mantha, similar deals, and Boeser has clearly been the better of the two. Canucks save cap space there.

Can't see the Canucks moving on from Bear at this point, they'd do Dermott though. Dermott is worth a 3rd, Eller's cap dump bumps that up to a 2nd.

Maybe counter with

Boeser
Dermott

for

Mantha
Eller
2nd

Canucks pass hard, we give up one of our few good RHD, and trading Mantha for Garland who are comparable in points production and garland is the better contract. Lars is a dump that would have to pay on top of, Canucks have no need for a 33 yr old declining Center.

If you change the 2nd to a 3rd I’d take that.

You'd have to remove Eller then.

Pass because Eller isn't a cap dump. He's a good 3C that a team would pay a 3rd, maybe even a 2nd if contenders start bidding on him.

If Washington is making a push for the playoffs, why would they be looking to move someone they consider to be a good 3rd line center? Because he's a cap space liability, which diminishes his trade value greatly.

I don't see many teams bidding for a center that is being paid 3.5M and is only on pace for 25 points. Even defensively, Eller has taken a step back this year, worse in all advanced stats and he has been surpassed by Dowd on PK1. Maybe at 50% retained Eller is worth a 3rd, but I can't see how he'd have positive value at his current cap hit.

Because Caps are stacked at center. Strome-Kuz-Backy-Dowd with Protas, McMichael and maybe even Lapierre. He's not a cap dump, some contender will pay a 3rd for him.

Exactly, so Eller has been beaten out by a guy making league minimum. Why would a team pay the Caps a 3rd for someone who is a 13th forward making 3.5M? They wouldn't. Hence, the negative asset.

He hasn't been beaten out by anyone, it's just how the cookie crumbles. He can't play wing so he's expendable. Someone will pay for him if Caps have to move him, they might not if Carlson doesn't return.

So Eller can't play wing, his offense is gone, has been demoted and healthy scratched, and on top of all that has a 3.5M cap hit. You're wanting a 3rd rounder for that?

Derick Brassard made 825k last year, had double Eller's production, wasn't healthy scratched and could play multiple spots, and earned the Flyers a 4th rounder. You're crazy if you expect a 3rd for Eller with no retention.

Eller is a Cup winner and is very good still. Not his fault better players are in front of him. He'll get a 3rd if they move him but I have a feeling Carlson is out until the playoffs so they won't have to.

If Eller earns the Capitals a 3rd with no salary retained I'll buy his jersey.

Yeah I agree with you...I don't think we can get a third for Eller if we don't retain half his salary. If we don't retain I would honestly expect it to just be a 5th or 6th rounder, or both.
