The Devils can have more cap flexibility and a better on-ice product by letting McLeod and Wood leave

I think if Meier extends with his destination then a smaller add to Holtz+1st is necessary. NJ's 1st is presumably going to be late and as of right now Holtz's would have dropped out of the top-10 in a 2020 redraft... but who knows
I'd rather have Walsh instead of Vukojevic because he's more ready and is RD which is something SJ needs

I get the ask of Walsh over Vuk, so no issue there.
But the Devs are very young so I am not sure they get out of the first round. That would put the pick at 17-20.
Fiala is a pretty good yardstick to TM, and he got the 19th pick and a mid 2nd in Faber from 2020 draft. Argument being he had a few teams only on his list. I would equal that to $10 QO for Timo.
So our 1st in 23, a better draft for sure than 22 and either a roster player and small pick or the Debrincat return of 1st in 23, 2nd in 23 and 3rd in 24 (which I would much rather take).
This proposal is already over that with Holtz and a 1st.
I am hoping that Fitz is good enough to get fair value and not smoked because of perceived value with silly season of TDL.

Yeah, I see your point if you don't think NJD is going that deep, but I think they would with Meier added. Depends what Fitz wants because he could grab another market winger and not pay so much for Meier. We would also have a better idea if we knew how flexible Meier is on his destination.
I think Grier will want a little more than 1st+Holtz because he is not being forced to trade Meier like MN's cap situation with Fiala, so DeBrincat is a better comp. I still view Holtz+23' 1st+3rd/B-C prospect coming close to the DeBrincat assuming NJ's 1st will be late, even considering that 23' will be a deeper draft. The 22' 7OA was the replacement for the top prospect.
