Easy no from the Hawks. Blueger as zero value, he's a rental and Hawks have no use for a rental. Kap is not earning his $3.2M cap hit, thus he is basically a cap dump. Domi is worth at a minimum of a 2nd round pick.

The Blues can get more for Barbashev without having to deal with McGinn's contract for the next two years.

Yeah don't think the blues do this deal. Also don't want to have McGinn for 2 more season. Would rather just sign Barbashev to a contract than do this deal

Idk Athletic says Domi's not that great (https://theathletic.com/3989390/2023/01/30/nhl-player-cards-chicago-blackhawks-2/). Says Blueger has more value then him, Kap is a cap dump mainly but still has some value but thats what the extra pick is for

What is STL looking for? Barbasev is comparable to McGinn (https://theathletic.com/3989395/2023/01/30/nhl-player-cards-st-louis-blues-2/) and he doesnt need to be resigned, + a pick on top. This is a 27 yo 3rd liner what more could you expect?

Everyone says no. Yotes can get better, Barbashev will need a 2nd and maybe a prospect, and hawks need better for domi. Plus you're sending out the pens 2 best penalty killers in McGinn and Blueger for no one good on the PK in return. (barbashev is decent on PK, obviously better overall than blueger).

This is not even remotely close if the Blues would take McGinn, and they ain't takin' McGinn. So yeah, this bag is suuuper light.

The point of dealing Barbashev is so that they can get assets to build for the future, while avoiding paying a guy in his late 20s decent money while the team is in limbo. Even if we accept that McGinn is more or less as good as Barbashev, as you claim, if they wanted a guy like Barbashev they would just keep Barbashev. They're not that desperate for a 3rd round pick. They're more likely to retain half and get a 2nd round pick and take no other salary back, because someone will probably offer that.

But, crucially, McGinn is not as good Barbashev. Barbashev is significantly more useful player than McGinn. He can play center or wing, McGinn can't. Barbashev is a solid puck distributor who can setup high danger shots at a decent clip and is quick enough to attack on the rush. McGinn can't do either of these things. He's a good to very good PKer, McGinn is not. And, crucially, Barbashev is an expiring asset, while McGinn is signed for two more years. There's not a 3rds worth of difference in the value there. They might be similar by a quick glance at a player card (though even Dom's cards say McGinn has only been worth half his AAV this year, while Barbashev has been basically dead even), but there's some crucial differences that make this not tenable.

I agree Chychrun could be worth a bigger return based on the market, I am suprised STL and CHI are so attached to Barb and Domi tho, Domi's is an UFA with a -$2m market value, and Barbashev is solid but its hes not great eaither with a market value of 2.2m and also a UFA. Idk what STL is doing but i thought CHI was for sure rebuilding, and would rather have the gaurenteed pick then let them walk in FA

Maybe if he was a RFA, but anything more than 3rd for a struggling UFA seems like too big of an risk for a 3rd/4th liner. I agree I wouldnt want McGinn either tho lol

Who says Domi walks? If the Hawks don't trade him, they'll resign him. He likes being a Hawk and the Hawks like him as a player.

I'm sorry, but the values in all 3 of your trades are way off. None of the teams that aren't the Pens accept

It's not that they're attached, it's that they can get much better deals than you're proposing for both players lol

The player cards are controversial and pretty sure these were created two months ago. That said in late december, they interviewed multiple scouts and a NHL GM and all said (besides 1) Domi is worth a 2nd rounder and the writers said a 2nd rounder. Since that time, Domi has been on-fire to the point the rumors are the Hawks may keep him and sign him longer term to help through the rebuild.

Nonetheless, not a chance Blueger and a worthless 5th rounder gets Domi much less adding Kap

Struggling.... oh dear. He's not, man. He's been one of the most reliable performers on the team this season even with his shooting woes - which he seems to be coming out of now. A 3rd won't even get you to the table for Barby right now. He's too much of a handyman and too cheap cap-wise. And he's one you absolutely re-sign, too.
