This should be classified as cap circumvention unless they are actually still injured

The team does expect Landeskog back during the season, so they won't be Kuching any Ovs this year.

I do think Toews is a possibility for them though. It's just complicated, as they'd need double retention. AA is likely off the table due to lack of an effective 200 foot game.

considering the team expects him back early march and will begin team supervised skating after the all start break, it indeed would be cap circumvention

Ok that’s fine as long as he comes back on schedule and not insanely behind schedule then I wouldn’t be suspicious

As stated above, Landy will be back. If A.A and J.Toews is what the Avs cheat to acquire, it would be sad and a waste. TDL Tows cap hit is 2.4m before retention. Not worth a 1st btw.

That trade seems super bad for Colorado

He can skate though, and is fun to watch especially when you don’t care about the outcome.

This is the correct take. Toews isn’t good anymore, AA doesn’t play defense, both would be rentals, and you end up skipping 2 drafts in a row and don’t pick in the 2nd rd until 2026. Think about it you will still be paying in 2026 for guys that will be gone for several years, yeah if you win the cup who cares, but I personally think a fully healthy Avs team is the best course not washed Toews.

he was suppose to be back in January but treatment wasnt as effective as they hoped early on, so now they are being very cautious.
If his team supervised skating doesnt look rright, there is a chance they do shut him down for the regular season. I dont think that will happen but not out of the question
