Vancouver did surprisingly well here, even with the pick protection.

New York… not so much, and the fit is weird. They better hope they can make the playoffs to convince Horvat to sign an extension.

Edit: It's also hilarious that Lou Lamoriello is the one who traded the 9 OA pick that became Horvat in 2013.

Think it's a fair deal, but if that pick slides into 2024 and becomes unprotected, that's scary for NYI

Canucks get a decent prospect, a middle 6 winger and a mid first for a UFA in a career year who would have cost a ton to re-sign both term and AAV wise. Theu clearly need to rebuild and this is a step in the right direction.

Islanders get a UFA center in a career year who will cost a ton to re-sign and give up their best prospect and a first in one of the thinnest prospect pools in the league. Oh, and they are a bubble team.

I voted Canucks because of the long-term implications. Horvat does not make the Islanders a contender.

When Ottawa traded Matt Duchene to Columbus, we got a lottery protected first and a couple of scraps.

This return on Bo Horvat blows that out of the water.

If Lou Lamoriello doesn't have an extension in place for Horvat, then things are going to get very dicey for the Islanders.

I really wanted him in Detroit, this is super disappointing. Good job by NY, it's a big package but you have to go big sometimes.

Wait a minute, that's not to the canes for KK, Morrow and a 1st+. Anyway, Nucks did pretty well here. Don't think the Isles got completely fleeced, just don't really understand the fit here.

It'll definately help them out in the super competetive wild card race in the east, but their already thin prospect pool gets even thinner and they got rid of one of their younger roster players. And they pick up a top 6 C when they already have a solid trio down the middle.

I really want to see if the Islanders sign Horvat to an extension, otherwise it's a massive loss.

It definitely gets them closer to the playoffs but that's a short term objective. They'd need to move salary to sign him.

Either way I could see this trade being similar to ROR for Thompson (Horvat helps Canucks win a cup and Raty becomes a key piece in Van's retool). But this only happens if Bo extends

The Isles get a great player, but I'm a huge fan of this for the Canucks. They get a great, young player to help them retool. Im a huge fan of this and I think Allvin deserves a ton of credit here.

Finally the Horvat to BOS trades can stop.
