Horvat is a tenured, veteran forward with leadership. Something the Isles are lack... oh.

Hovat contract extension, what are the numbers we are going to guess, Johnny Hockey (between $9 and $10)? Barkov ($10) or Huberdeau (slightly more than $10)?

I dont think this is that bad of a trade for you guys. It wont put you over the edge for a cup, but will put you into playoffs probably. And you guys got Bo for way way cheaper than I thought. If you guys can re-sign him it is a step in the right direction towards contending. That plus a very strong offseason could do it for you.

I really like this deal for both teams (as long as he extends at a reasonable price). Beauvillier was neutral value at best but Raty is a very nice prospect + the 1st.

New York has master crafted D Corp and Goaltending and a terribly crafted forward group. This helps thhe forward group quite a bit. Still not perfect but better for sure.

I am gonna go with 8.5m x 8 years. I hope for New Yorks sake it is closer to what Kadri got though.

It's a bad trade for both teams. The Canucks need D prospects, the Islanders aren't making the playoffs. Nobody wins in this deal. The Canucks get another forward in their current logjam, the Islanders get another bloated contract, which although Horvat is 27, still drives the team's average age up, which is astounding to me.

One positive: I strongly believe an extension for Bo has been put in place and will be announced within the week.

Might not be a positive 😂 depending on the number. I think best (expexted) case scenario is they sign him to 7mx7 or 8 years. I think they might give him 8mx7 though, and if that happens I would expect him to be considered at least 1.5m overpaid in the next few years.

Vancouver can draft a D prospect with the pick this year or next. Getting a C prospect isn't a bad move at all since they are valuable, and Miller seems suited better for the wing in the long term anyways.

They just need to trade Boeser and Garland for picks and D prospects or Dmen now.

The problem is Boeser and Garland aren't worth much because they have term on their contracts. You won't be getting quality pieces in return. This trade just makes the Kuzmenko signing even worse. If Vancouver wanted picks and prospects out of their winger core, the only winger that holds any value at this stage in the season is Kuzmenko.

Positive: you didn't give up much, especially if he extends

They gave up their top prospect and a first in the deepest draft in a while, that's not much?

Only 3 forwards under 30, that includes Bo, and Lou trades Raty?

Now, I know this is the same guy that gave Zaitsev 7 years, but wow.

I think if they retain on either they can get a decent piece or pick. They just need 2nds and 3rds to land a decent D prospects. I wonder of they could get Severson and a pick or D prospect out of NJ.

You dumped Beauvilier who teased you fans into believing he was a top6 contributor. You would have had to pay to dump his salary this offseason. Raty wasnt a top prospect, he was your top prospect. Feast or famine is the correct approach.
