Lou still Givin it to the Devs, even from afar ... He couldn't strip anymore prospects out of NJ directly, so he found a new way.

I feel like this was always kind of his value. Not sure there was much overlap in the people seriously in on both Horvat and Meier, and a lot of people were (unsurprisingly) lowballing on here.

Good offer but depends on how SJS like Shakir. He’s really divisive

I think Shakir is a Grier kind of player. Responsible, good skater, some offensive upside. And Holtz+Eklund=Heart Eyes

I saw a lot of highball offers for Horvat too. It's about what I expected. I'm not convinced Raty is a grade A prospect, and the pick might be in the teens. The value might have been a bit low actually.

It's about one Holtz too much of a return.

Well, I was talking about lowball offers for Meier really, but yeah this wasn't really a great deal from either side IMO. Generally I think 1st+prospect+established NHL player is about right for a player of horvat's caliber, but there's obviously degrees in which those assets can fall, and most would be hard pressed to consider Raty or Beauvillier "premium" prospects or established NHLs as they currently sit.

The Canucks are clearly gambling that the Islanders will not make the playoffs this year, slide the pick to 2024, and then also not make the playoffs next year, as opposed to trading Horvat to a more legitimate contender and virtually guaranteeing that the pick will be in the late 20s this year. This isn't a bad bet persay, but yeah if you're not high on Raty or Beauvillier (totally understandable) then you wonder if it would have made more sense to opt for quantity from a contender over a swing at quality from a team that didn't have quantity to give.

I really expected the cap dump (Beauvelier, though he is useful), a low 1st (this will likely be a middle pick as the Islanders likely just miss the playoffs, so unless they win the lottery, I'd expect it to be 13-16 range), a 2nd, and a high (but not best) prospect from a team. Raty is a good pickup, but he likely tops at a 2C. The Canucks got a better 1st, a little lower ceiling prospect, and a little better cap dump dump. I'd chalk it up to a Canucks loss on tbe trade.
