The first two trades are just wrong, especially Sandin. I don't know what Sandin did to be done dirty like that.

Nothing. McCabe is just more defensive dman that we probably want in the top 4. Idk how the first two trades are wrong tho. Maybe Meier since I had to add extra retention after to make it work. Could take off 500k

Only reason to want him is for this year to play over Sandin (until he gets more experienced) and then he's just a solid 3rd pairing guy in the next two years. Sandin is part of the future, moving him out for McCabe would be a huge mistake.

Leafs are in a win now mode, but the goal is to be like that for the next 7+ years. Moving cost controlled players with team control and all the futures is boxing them in to the next 2-3 years.

We have no need for Sandin as we already have Fowler and have Zellweger and Mintyukov coming up and even Hinds and possibly even Thrun and LaCombe

We will need a 1st and maybe some for a 50% retained Uncle Rico

Doing it in the offseason would diminish a decent amount of the value TOR would be getting out of this trade. But ok, deal!
