The isles could add Timo Meier and Alex ovechkin and they would still miss the playoffs. I’m not even trolling. I don’t understand this logic , it’s like yeah we just made a terrible trade what’s a few more bad trades going to do?

i'm so mad that they've chosen this direction, just so mindless and it's going to absolutely screw this team in the future for a barely marginal improvement in the short-term. i might have to tap out for the rest of this season, i'm so exhausted following them doing the wrong things. maybe that makes me a bandwagon but idgaf, i'd rather watch my college basketball team than keep up with this mess.

Can you elaborate as to why this team would still miss the playoffs with both timo Meier and ovechkin?

Hmm. I think it is in the realm of possibility that the Blues think they could coalesce Holmstrom attributes into a player. That said, this could still be beaten even if they like him a bit.

I don’t like it either but I’m still gonna support the team even if I disagree with moves made by them. If this is the direction the team is gonna go, then I think these are the moves they should make to see the short-term success that is desired

i'm still going to support them, but i might just mentally detach more and not watch as many games as i have been. i just think, what kind of short-term success do they think this group can actually have? absolute best case scenario they get WC1 and have to play carolina, and they've owned us season after season.

the 09-14 isles were more enjoyable than the past two years. Saw young guys being integrated into the lineup, had top picks (pulock, nelson, lee) that gave you hope for a better future. Now the isles are in a spot where they have no present or future. I'm not going to be blindly optimistic for no reason.

I'm also a Dallas cowboys and mets fan. I've seen plenty of terrible seasons, nothing beats the last two isles seasons. No direction, terrible product. What isles fans don't understand is this is just delaying a rebuild for another season or 2. Look at Montreal, the sharks etc. I'm rooting for them to lose because I believe that will benefit them the most long term, I love hockey so Ill still watch games but I can't root for the isles to win when they are as flawed as they are.

because the isles are a bottom 10 offensive team and defensive team. They have about a 15% chance to make the playoffs as it stands. Meier and Ovechkin would only increase those odds about 10%

im not going to like every move my teams make , but over the last two years almost every move has been bad. Thats why I can't support them.

And they’d still be a bottom 10 offensive team with ovechkin and Meier on top of Horvat?

yeah absolutely agree. absolute worst case scenario for any franchise is that they become what the sharks are now. too many long-term deals that are untradeable so it's hard to jumpstart a rebuild by getting assets in return for your veterans with no high-end young pieces, and this team is on that path. just really hard to watch them play and even harder to watch them shoot themselves in the foot like this. i'm a mets fan too and honestly that season can't come soon enough. people complain about eppler not adding more at the deadline last year but at least the mets have a clear long-term vision for the team and franchise and i can see them taking the steps to get there.

average, thats not even my opinion. Isles are the 7th worst offensive team in the league . San Jose and Washington are below average offensively this season with those players.

yeah Im a big fan of what eppler has done. He's evolved a bit and is targeting players with good analytics. They have a ton of star power and a great prospect pool. Alvarez and Baty are going to be studs.

agree, really the only area they're lacking rn is young pitching, but it takes time to develop the farm and get those players in, so i'm not too worried about it. their hitting/position player prospects are great so i think they can get there with their pitching as well.

I think they are either going to trade for ohtani or in 2 years after Scherzer/Verlander contracts are up they will trade for a young pitcher. Senga is also relatively young and I think he has ace potential, more likely a good #2 though.
