The Blues would need to LOVE Poulin, and I find that pretty unlikely.

No thanks. Got an extra year after this at 3.2mil for a guy with fewer goals than Derick Brassard. If Ottawa wants bottom six scoring they need to waive guts like Watson and Gambrell, get Sharkolov up. He's been a monster for Belleville.

The Nyquist deal is intriguing, and I think the Jackets would accept that. I think you could drop either Hallander or Heinen (preferably Heinen) off that deal and it would get done unless Jarmo decides he values a 2nd rounder more than a young center.

What's a realistic offer that could get O'Reilly? Assuming the Pens need retention and the package starts with a 1st and a contract(Kapanen, Blueger, or Dumo).

Would a 1st, a current NHL contract, and forward prospect(Poulin/Hallander/etc) be enough for half retained?

A 23 1st, yeah probably. A 24 1st, I kinda doubt it. Kap is a no go, because he has another year and they need that space, but either of the UFAs would work. But again, I'm not sure how they feel about Poulin or Hallander. Skating is an issue with both, and they generally prefer centers to have at least decent speed. Maybe they like one enough for their O zone tools, though.

Word. I appreciate the response. Sullivan has made it extremely clear that the 3rd line is going to play heavy defensive zone minutes - that's why I think O'Reilly would be a perfect upgrade. Would be night and day vs Carter lol. If that package would get the Blues to say yes I'd be all for it.
