This isn't the worst trade I've seen on here, I propose wings could do better trading them separately and getting more back that way. Wings most likely decline, but it's not awful

Dumolin and Kapanen are both cap dumps for the Wings use case, so the only valuable pieces are Poulin and the picks and IMO, those are nowhere near enough for the return. Bump that 2nd to a 1st and make the 2024 3rd, a 2024 2nd and it's in the ballpark at least...

You wont be getting any type of first for Bert this year. Bro only has 5 points

Kubalík most certainly warrants a 1st in return. He's on pace for 58 points and is signed for another year at 2.5 million. Detroit don't have to trade him unless they get a good return, we don't need the cap, we don't need the roster spot, and we're not up against the 50 contract limit.

Bert's really having a tough season. Shooting percentage at 3% is terrible but likely won't stay that low.

Kubalik is not a 1st line winger though.

Neither is Brandon Hagel and he got 2 firsts because of his contract similar to Kubs, which does warrant a 1st with his contract and on pace for nearly 60 pts. Teams against the cap can plug in Kubs in the top 6/9 and he immediately produces.

I didn't say you may not get a first for Kubalik, though I don't think anyone will pony up that asking price. I said he's not a 1st line winger. He's a 3rd line winger and PP specialist.

Plus Hagel is younger, cheaper and better than Kubalik and will still be a RFA when his current contract expires.
