What's in that trade for Buffalo? Namestnikov is fine and could be a Girgensons replacement on the 4th line next year, but we have plenty of prospects that would likely provide more.
You'd have to make a trade worth their while.

Buffalo does this why? Seems really senseless for them to give up an asset for a guy they don't need this year to open cap space for a team they could see in the playoffs. As of now by point% they're the 2wc

They get a rental for a potential playoff appearance without giving anything up. Namestnikov was valuable for Dallas in last years playoffs. They get a reliable 4th line winger and a sixth round pick for a career AHLer

The issue is we don’t have the roster space for Namestnikov, we already have a solid, reliable 4th line winger in the AHL (Hinnestroza) Who was producing over .4 ppg in the NHL this season.

I don't see TB offering any of these trades or see the other teams agreeing to them.

Okay but he's not better than Girgensons so why would we play him over Girgensons? He'd sit in the press box the whole playoffs and we're giving up a player that even if he is a career AHLer is an integral part of that team that's about to go on a playoff run themselves.

Weissbach turns 25 this April.
He had as many AHL goals last year in the AHL as Namestnikov had in th NHL last year.
The Sabres get another late pick to throw at the dart board and an NHL player who may sit in the press box but is NHL ready if they make the playoffs and have an injury.
Maybe Tampa throws in Philippe Myers to also shore up the defense.
