If we're giving up a 1st, I'd want retention on McCabe.

Meh, sure, if we move Klingberg or Shattenkirk we can take Holl.

That's good value for McCabe. Hawks should do it. Discussions out there on the interwebs are that Kyle Davidson is willing to retain on McCabe too. What does $2M of retention for 3 years mean??? IDK

I wouldn't trade Barabanov unless it were for the equivalent of a 1st or more. He's such a key player for the Sharks and they would miss his play so, so much. I desperately hope Grier sees things the same way and holds on to him barring a massive overpay.

Barabanov alone is worth that trade. Don't think he'd agree to go back to Toronto anyway. He has a 10-team no trade list and I guarantee Toronto is on it.

Hawks would retain half on mccabe. Just make it the 23' first and take out kerfoot.

It's been reported already that a) this is more than the asking price and B) TO has no interest in paying this price.

Already been reported that TO has no interest in that price. He's just not worth a 1st. He's a bottom 4 defender.

Yeah, that's why I'm saying the Hawks are getting good value.

It's a moot point, it won't be offered. And McCabe just isn't that good.

It might not be offered. Agreed there, but McCabe has been amazing this year. Truly our best defender and plays our #1 LD.

On the worst team in the league. Being the least bad isn't the same as being good

What??? A first? For an offensive winger who's really a third-line winger for a good team? The best-case scenario is he's a Janmark or Jarnkrok, who both were swapped at the deadline for third-round picks I believe. If you were running the Sharks when they were a contender, would you really want your team to trade a first-round pick (albeit a low one considering the expectation of progressing in the playoffs) for a Barabonov? He's is definitely replaceable in the offseason. By the time the Sharks are good again, Barabonov won't be a key player. He's just a guy who is quick and skilled enough to keep up with good players and not be a hindrance to offense.
