What's the record for most 1st traded at a deadline in this era? I doubt it's 10

Only one I'd switch is boeser. Idk if he gets a 1st. Other than that I think it's a good list.

Definitely not setting records this season either. I'd be surprised if we see 3 more firsts moved this deadline

What? Savard and Chiarot's trades involved a first round pick. No guarantee it will for Gavrikov but it's likely and definitely not "no chance".

Not every Montreal player is available, of those available only Monahan and Eddy will return a 1st (if traded). Outside of them only Anderson, Dvorak and Savard will cost a team a 1st + if they want to pry them away. Everyone else is either not available (Suzuki, Dach, Caufeild, Guhle, Slafkovsky) or are not worth more than a couple of 2nds (Drouin, Hoffman, Pitlick, Dadonov, Armia, Gallagher, Evans, Kovacevic, Harris, Wideman, ect...)

Savard had a track record of being very good + there were not many Ds available. Chiarot was coming off a SCF run. Neither applies to gavrikov.

They wouldn't get a 2nd for all of them together

Harris and maybe Evans can get a 2nd of the guys I listed. I didn't list everyone, for instance Matheson could probably get 2 2nds or a 2nd and 3rd. Xhekaj may get a 2nd or 3rd. I used a couple of 2nds as the max for players not worth a 1st, I could have listed every player individually but that would be ridiculous so I lumped them in 4 groups, the 3 available players that will return a min 1st, the three players that would take an overpay of a 1st + to pry away (the guys we don't want to trade but can be convinced), the players off limits as they are our core now and going forward and the rest.

Gavrikov was pretty good his first three years. He's younger than both Savard/Chiarot when they were traded and he's also playing top pair minutes including the highest SH TOI% among defensemen. This should make up for his lack of experience in playoffs.

Most important thing is he's 6-3, 221 lbs so good or not, that will stop some GMs.

Which of these two defenseman would you give up a 1st for given their numbers? If available.

The fact that Gavrikov routinely gets stated as being worth a 1st and Dumba isn't, boggles my mind. Dumba has been better in every way imaginable this year.

I would not give up a first for either but I'd rather spend it on Dumba. Anyways, he has a $6M cap hit with M-NTC while Gavrikov has a $2.8M cap hit with no clause. That's why Minnesota wouldn't receive a 1st for Dumba unless they retain half $. Also, one thing to consider is the usage. Gavrikov is playing on the first pair while it's a role he can't handle while Dumba is used the way he should.

Thank you for posting this graphic. Every year some mid/bottom pairing guy gets hyped up as the next Orr at the TDL. Especially for Gav, people are like "bro he plays 20+ mins a night" without realizing that some of the users here on capfriendly could play 20+ mins with all the injuries Columbus has had.

I think $1.4m would be a selling point there. And Dumba’s name is not “out there” as much since Minny in the thick of things.

Would not surprise me if Dumba got a 1st at 50%
