Unless a team is going to take back Petersen, there is not much the Kings will do this TDL. Copley is a proven improvement that they would prefer not to waive, and they won't trade Quick.

Montreal is not taking less than a 1st for Monahan, there aren't any other available center's outside of ROR who are better

I look forward to saying I told you so IF/when he is traded, so we both have goals. It's good to have goals!

BTW, I noticed you avoided the question cause you can't answer what other 2 center is available that is better than Monahan but will cost less than a 1st. Here is a hint, there isn't one that is why you are trolling.

Habs would have to take Sammy Blais off the Rangers hands in that same deal for them to even consider it.

Sometimes there are no centers available worth 1st round picks.

Montreal won’t be getting a first for Monahan. As for better centers available, just off the top of my head, we have already established ROR, but there is also Domi, Bennett, Reinhart, Hayes (especially at half retained), Toews (half retained), PLD (as a pure rental, and maybe 1 extra year before he walks, assuming Jets are willing to move him at deadline), Shmaltz, and hell, even Henrique are all better/more viable, or are the very least are less injury prone. And that’s definitely not all the C that would be available.

Monahan has so little value even with half retention just because of his inability to stay in the lineup. It took a first to dump him, there is nobody in the league who is going to give up a first for him outside of every other available C getting injured or just straight up dying, with a team being extremely desperate for a C.

ROR is definitely better as is Henrque. Domi sucks defensively and is not as good offensively, Bennett and Reinhardt are about equal with Monahan but I would give Monahan a slight edge as far as tradability due to his expiring contract and the Habs ability to retain on it without messing up next years cap and with the Cats trying to push for a playoff spot they arent moving either Bennett or Reinhardt. Toews is old and slow and isn't better than Monahan at all anymore. PLD is not available with the Jets in the playoffs. Hayes half retained might be a better option but the Flyers aren't retaining on Hayes for 4 years any more than the Habs are retaining on Gallagher or Anderson. So your options are Domi who isn't better than Monahan and Toews who is too old and slow to keep up.

I don't think the Canes are going to be interested in Monahan. I'll give you this, though. At least you're not throwing Morrow into the ask.

I mean if that's how you gage the value of a 2nd line center then great have at Toews but now take a look at the CF% for each player, Toews 48.5% Monahan 53.2%. With Toews on the ice the Hawks control 35% of the shots, with Monahan the Habs control 55% of the shots. 95% of the GM's around the league take the possession player over they guy who controls the faceoffs.

You can't use Corsi in a vacuum. Derek Stepan has a 65% Corsi For percentage this season, while Sidney Crosby is at 52%. Surely you're not saying that Stepan is better than Crosby.

Corsi over a small sample is meaningless, especially since Monahan has been out with an injury for half the season.

Dunno about that. Horvat return was underwhelming to set the market for these 2Cs and Monahan broken foot should be healed so the injury issues are a BIG concern, again!

Toews does have a FULL NMC. The same clause that limited Giroux value last year.

I'm not suggesting Toews will be traded at all. Just that Toews is more desirable than Monahan.

It matters. Every detail matters. The market changes every year. A player like Chiarot for example isnt close to as good as Devon Toews yet got more in return.

I don't disagree. That doesn't change anything about what I said though.
