I’m not exactly in the mood to look through every team in the east - but I am watching the hurricanes game right now, so jalen chatfield. 2nd pair, no power play team, a distant fifth on the team in pk time

Edit: flipped over to the caps for a second - Martin fehervary

Martin Fehervary averages 1:21 on the penalty kill per game....

Man, stop. This is not a good look.

Oh so you don’t care what actual pair they play on? Than that Washington guy I mentioned. There ya go!

I care what actual pairing they play on *normally*.

I am not willing to call Jalen Chatfield a top 4 defenseman because he is playing there for a game or two while Jaccob Slavin is injured.

I think we can both agree that would defeat the entire purpose.

Which is fifth among that d core. What’s your definition of significant contribution? I don’t think fifth is really significant

Like I already said, I'd consider at least 1 minute in either PP or PK time per game as significant.

It shows that they regularly play on the special teams, game in and game out, and can do it.

That's literally what we're talking about.

Ah okay, so being top four among the d group matters when it helps your case, but doesn’t when it hurts it. Got it

What are you even talking about? I agree that Martin Fehervary is a top 4 dman for Washington lol.

What you are saying right now is that you think that Martin Fehervary, who plays 1:21 a minute on the penalty kill per avg. game, is not a significant contributor to the penalty kill.

Do you actually stand by that?

Unless you’re still under the impression that hoglander is going to be something special (if so, why), Grzelcyk has triple the value of the package coming back.

Bruins D has gotten pushed around each of the last 4 playoff exits. Gotta get bigger.

Bruins defence has also been severely hurt the last 4 years. Last year we missed mcavoy/ Carlo and lindholm for a couple games each. When it’s comes to physicality I’m not stressed, mcavoy and clifton both are very hard hitters and lindholm, Carlo, Forbort all play somewhat physical aswell, their size also allows them to play less physical and just use positioning as they are hard to get around.

Correct. Being the 5th guy over the boards for PK duty doesn’t really have me thinking of him as a significant contributor.
Grzelcyk is third among bruins d men for PP time. Is that significant?

Dude, we're talking almost triple the ice time here, 30seconds to 1:21 A GAME...

From my POV, there are only 3 actual full time top 4 dmen who don't play special teams: Grzelyck, Colin Miller, and Nic Hague. They exist, but your examples I just disagree with.

Anyways, discussing things with you hurts my hockey brain. I'm going to have to throw you on the ignore list.

If you're lucky, perhaps the Bruins will find a team willing to trade for Grzelyck. Maybe you'll even get a top 4 dman who averages under 14 minutes a night, and a bottom 10 1st round pick sitting at 14th overall lmao.
