I think Hughes considers Montembeault the goalie of the future. I don't think MTL would rush to try adding a goalie like Demko until the roster proves that all they need is one.

Beauvilier was a good pick up, if he can turn it around then great. If not, then his contract expires when Pettersen needs an extension/when an extension kicks in. The goal of the Horvat trade was Raty and the 2023 1st mainly. I think a lot of people forget that Raty was thought to potentially challenge for 1OV in the 2021 draft, he dropped hard when the time came but maybe he'll be the steal of the draft.

Way too much for a goalie who will be at/over 30 and due a new contract within a year or two of actually being necessary.

2024 you have options in free agency like Sorokin, just off the top of my head. They'll be solutions. Needless to pay anything to go for a goalie at this point! The Wings started the whole dynasty by picking up goalies in free agency like Vernon and Hasek.
