Trades
1.
NYR
  1. Kane, Patrick ($5,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I don't think teams are willing to cough up their top prospects for a semi washed up Kane. Though, I still think he's worth a 1st. That being said, the NYR have two, and could move on from one of them to add Kane to the team. The 3rd is for the retention.

Where else would he play.....? On the 3rd line in a defensive role? He would immediately play with Panarin, like they once did before.

I said "washed up" because it looks to be the case. He doesn't have the value he once did when it was rumoured he was on the block. He won't get you a Horvat style return.
A 1st, though, is reasonable.

He's disengaged, facing daily questioning about being traded, playing with terrible linemates mostly who aren't capitalizing on his playmaking, is a new Father, and dealing with pain the last 2 seasons from his hip impingement. But just look at his stats over the last few years and more importantly last season to this one, players don't fall off cliffs within months. Lazy take to say "washed up", better take would be to watch him play and then understand the context of the position he's in right now.

He's struggling. Not having good linemates will do that, sure. We can agree there.
Though, having hip issues at the ripe age of 34 doesn't exactly negate my point. He isn't the player he used to be, and teams aren't exactly willing to cough up major assets for him. He had a great year last year, but has fallen off. I know you don't think so, but players can fall off.

Call it a lazy take, but Kane is slipping and it'd be wise to move him now.

Players simply don't fall off that hard year to year, especially elite players, unless there is a lot more to the story versus saying he's washed up.

The hip impingement is a simple same day surgery, so not concerned about that going into next season.
