I like your thinking, but I don't think your getting Spence and a 1st from LA for Peterson. Spence I would go after for sure. I just don't see both.

If Demko wants out, that devalues him despite we know he can play. Peterson can play too, but had a craptastic year. Be like asking Edmonton for Broberg and a 1ST for a Campbell for Demko swap. Campbell has had a craptatic year, but does Edmonton do that?

I say they don't....

The LA trade would have to occur in the summer, after we've all had a chance to see if Demko has recovered from the injury that prematurely ended Ryan Kesler's career. That being said, we'd offer our 2024 second conditional upon Demko playing at least 41 games for us in 2023-2024.

By the way, Clarke : Spence = Hughes : OEL.

Devils aren't interested in Kane and wouldn't need double retention

Extra retention on Kane won't cost a 2nd round pick. The actual cash salary being retained is less the $200K, which equates to probably a 4th but a 3rd at most.
