Kane is also playing with inferior linemates in comparison to years past.

And even if in decline, he is still going to throw up 60-70 points. Not a fan of that particular contract, but a 2 year $7 million would work.

Gives time.for the Sabres to continue developing the stable - Rosén, Kulich, Bloom, Savoie. Not sure now is the time to add a Meier type guy. This team is still marinating and gelling. They have a core. Be 100% sure that core needs and additive (Meier) over an enhancer (Kane).

I maybe a Leafs fan, but this Sabres team is going to be effin' fantastic in a couple years if the cards are played right. Deeper than the Leafs, more balanced than the Leafs, should have better tending than the Leafs. Throwing $9 million at one guy at this stage may upset all that. Because in today's NHL balance and depth win.

Hoping no one will notice that both of those kids become free agents in the summer, hunh?

Well I’d see a guy like Meier (extended obviously) as a key part of our core for years & years to come
