Created by: RV23
Team: 2022-23 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 1, 2023
Published: Feb. 1, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Take it or leave it SJ. The 1st/Holtz/Sharangovich ask is insanity. We'll give to get, but you need to be realistic here. You wont qualify Meier and he'll be a UFA this summer. Lose him for nothing or take a fair deal. Choice is yours. A 1st, young established winger, and two B prospects get this done.

The Canucks traded Horvat because he was a pending UFA. Why would they acquire another pending UFA?

I would take this deal but your assessment is wrong. Timo's agent and Mike Grier have not closed the door on extension in SJ. Please research before making baseless claims.

Your offer is fine but your description is a load of BS
No indication that Meier wants out of SJ and wouldn't extend with SJ at the price and term he wants, which SJ can afford

I’ve researched. Timo being in Tulum presently with Nico is telling. He knows where he wants to go. It’s not staying in SJ for the rebuild you’re about to go through. Take Shara, Gritsyuk, and Casey and call it a win, they’re all going to be great players

Timo and Nico have been friends for a long time. That isn't telling of anything. Timo also hangs out with Ehlers and Fiala. Doesn't mean he;s going to LA or Winnipeg. This is baseless speculation to try and validate your baseless claim.

seemed a fit for me, but think Severson for late 1st is fair market value

you can choose to see it that way, but the sharks need to prepare for the future. You cannot win with the current roster construction/lack of high end prospects in the pipeline. Take a more than fair offer and call it a day

I think they’re asking for the moon, thats why. The offer I propose is palatable for the devils organization. Yes it’s a lot to give up but will Gritsyuk and Casey break the NHL roster with our current construction? You have to give to get remember.

No it certainly is not
yesterday, another source indicated to SJHN that GM Mike Grier was looking for “a first-rounder — and one Grade-A or two Grade-B prospects, or one good prospect and a young, established NHL player” for Meier

The offer is good. I would take it. But I am only harping on your claim that is totally baseless and just mindless speculation.

that’s fine don’t need you to agree with me on that, but I’m being realistic on what we should be giving up to pry Meier away

i understand that. But if you want to avoid Holtz in the deal, which they should absolutely be trying to avoid. This is how the deal gets done. You give pieces you can do without.

Listen end of the day, you vacation with your friends. But he could have gone with anybody. It definitely means something

How is it a fit? The Canucks are a bottom 10 team. Why would they need 1 year of Severson for a first when their prospect pool is empty?

Gritsyuk is a phenomenal prospect but I’m taking Holtz PPG at the AHL over what Gritsyuk has done in Russia
