Wings pass, won't be trading Larkin and in division would be more expensive

Dump Murray, trade Brodie, and pray the cap goes up in two years.

laugh laugh This is nothing like the Horvat trade, Beauvillier still has term and Kerfoot is a pending UFA. Vancouver needed a replacement C and got Raty. Detroit doesn't need more wingers like Knies we need a replacement for Larkin which Toronto doesn't have plus the Leafs 1st round pick is much later than the Islanders 1st round pick. Trades a joke and Detroit declines.

Kerfoot also has no term so he would be there purely for cap reasons in the trade.

Horvat also has more goals and is having the better season, that's why he costs more.

laugh laugh What a joke, just because Horvat is having a career year doesn't make him more valuable. Larkin has a career 0.73% per season on a 82 game schedule and Horvat 0.67% per season on a 82 game schedule. Plus Horvat sucks defensivly and Larkin is a solid 200 foot player. Try basing them on their career not just one season shakes head

Larking would certainly demand more in a trade than Horvat and if you don't believe that, you are not watching a lot of hockey. Larkin would pull Knies, a 1st and another prospect or a 2nd at a minimum -- Kerfoot is a dump as he is a UFA and the Wings wouldn't resign him. Even though I love Knies as a prospect, I'm not sure the Wings and Leafs matchup for a Larkin trade as HIMP61 stated, they would need a C prospect right on the edge of the NHL for the Wings to think about moving him.

I agree Larkin is the better overall player, but he still qualifies as a rental so he won't get a huge return. And based on this season alone I think Horvat would be more valuable for a playoff run because he's better on the dot and scores more. It's simple math.

Not even an issue, As Larkin grew up hating the Leafs, And i seriously doubt he'd ever waive for the Leafs. And rental or not your offer is a joke. No way is Yzerman dealing his Captain to a divisional foe like Toronto for such a low return. You can keep Knies wingers are the very last thing we need. Yzerman isn't dealing Larkin anywhere without a comparable young NHL ready Center coming back in return. Sorry but the Leafs don't have the pieces to move Larkin within the division.

That's exactly what i'm saying, his offer is way too low. Needs to add a few more pieces. Especially dealing Larkin within the division won't be cheap. Yzerman will want a comparable young C NHL ready and the leafs don't have such a player.

The trade isn't that comparable for these reasons

1. Kerfoot is 28 and is a UFA where as Beauviller is 25 and still has term. Detroit would require a young player with term coming back
2. Knies and Raty are comparable value but Knies is a winger. Detroit needs centers.
3. Toronto's 1st Rounder will be in the 26th-32nd overall range. Where as the Islanders pick will be in the 13th - 20th Overall range.

Detroit would need to hear the the following to even get a conversation going for Larkin
Rasmus Sandin, Fraser Minten, 2023 1st and a 2024 2nd

I think a more accurate assessment would be.

Wing fans on Capfriendly, "everything to do with the Leafs is crap and all wing players are elite worth more than anyone else available."

You guys honestly are here saying Larkin is worth a lot more than Horvat and Bertuzzi is going to be worth as much as well. And all leaf prospects and roster players are garbage and have no value. It's just plain silly

Another big difference is that Horvat wanted out and Larkin wants to stay.
