There are many options with Carolina’s pile of prospects.

I saw where Nikishin may just stay in Russia though, not sure if there’s fire to that smoke or not.

I think that’s the most realistic one from Carolina’s side, we already know Morrow isn’t really going to be moved.

Canes are unlikely to do either 6 or 7. 5 is fine

#2 and #5 probably most likely

#1 and #6 I'd say are best for SJ.
If they could get a future core piece like Edvinsson or Jarvis, its 'W' for Grier

1st trade is a hell no from Detroit, Meier isn't returning Edvinsson and a potential top 10 pick.

No on the 2nd trade as well.

The 3rd one might have some merit. But the 2024 1st is still top 10 protected.

I agree no to 1 and 2 but three is a possibility.

Unless we get a major upgrade at C I'd consider Edvinsson off the table for right now.

Not interested in dealing either Berggren or Rasmussen. Berggren is looking like a stud. he very well with top 6 minutes could rival Lucas Raymond i think he can be that good.

Bertuzzi and Zadina are fine, But i'd still want protection even on the 2024 1st especially if we do lose Larkin.

I like #3 the most, I think. The ELCs are too important for Detroit in this situation, where they'll potentially have 3x $9M contracts coming up between Larkin, Meier, and Seider. Also, it makes sense to move a guy making $3M+ which, for me, is Bertuzzi or Fabbri.

As for Zadina, he doesn't look great on paper, but he's coming along. He's been going through sports therapy to improve his mental game, but honestly his possession stats and defensive game are solid. As soon as he gets his shot back, he will break out.

Other prospects you might be interested in: Wallinder (approaching A level status, right behind Edvinsson), Gylander (coming along quite well as an NCAA goaltender), Mazur (Hobey Baker nominee who Pronman recently recognized as having huge growth this year and top 6 NHL potential).

                Thanks for throwing this together!

1st trade is a hell no from Detroit, Meier isn't returning Edvinsson and a potential top 10 pick.

No on the 2nd trade as well.

The 3rd one might have some merit. But the 2024 1st is still top 10 protected.

Yeah the pick would have protection for 2023 similar to Horvat, not unprotected. I think the 3rd is by far the worst for San Jose

No problem, had time to kill so why not. Wallinder would be interesting yes he was the one guy I left out that I would be okay getting

I don’t think San Jose would do it with protection when they could sign Bertuzzi in the offseason though. Also Zadina I don’t think has near the value some think

#2 and #5 probably most likely

#1 and #6 I'd say are best for SJ.
If they could get a future core piece like Edvinsson or Jarvis, its 'W' for Grier

I don’t see them moving Jarvis, and I don’t see edvinsson moving either but would love him.

                In order:
#1 (top 10 potential and Ed)
                #4 (RHD lock? and 1st)
                #6
                #2
                #5
                #7
                #3

I think # 3 would be the only one that doesn't't make sense on the list. In saying that, as a Detroit fan that one is my favorite lol

A lot depends on our Larkin situation, Pretty sure it'll get done here. plus adding a guy like Meier should put us into a better position that a bottom 10 shouldn't be the issue. So Yzerman would probably be more inclined to move the 2024 1st obviously the 2023 is definitely a no go in a deep draft.

I think if Bertuzzi hits the market the sharks need to look at him but I wouldn’t hang my 26 yo star player on him. I agree it’s the least likely

With an extension, some of these are legit possibilities.

Considering this discussion and the options provided, I think I would offer the following:

Wallinder (I don't want to lose him though!)
                2024 1st (or top 12 protected 2023)
                Gylander or Zadina (your choice)
Fabbri (for cap relief, not really a big value adder)

This takes the form of option #1 (WW is very close to Ed in terms of ceiling), but adds protection on the 1st, an extra young player or prospect to equalize it all out, and Fabbri for cap relief.

My thought process went off of the Horvat trade and that he got a good return as a rental without team control after this year whereas Meier has team control. I think he should get more the Horvat deal even without the extension in place. Some of these I know teams fans won’t like but that’s the apparent ask according to reports from San Jose media

I don't think NY made the Horvat trade for rental purposes. I think the plan is to extend him. They wouldn't have given up all of that for a rental. That would not make much sense for them at this point. Don't know what's been going on behind the scenes, but don't be surprised to see an extension announcement at some point. That would change the trade, which I think will happen.
