This is a very good looking team. Maybe get one more guy to upgrade their bottom D pairing but overall this team is scary.

I know Detroit fans just turned down a ridiculously huge package from the Leafs earlier today. I assume they say no. But I have noticed that Detroit fans on here tend to dislike everything. So I wouldn't put too much weight into it.

Detroit says hell yes, By far the best offer for Larkin yet.

Just good luck when you're paying both Larkin and Aho similar money.

Morrow and another 1st are tempting (albeit late). Don't love Drury, but honestly don't know enough about him. I truly don't believe that Larkin is going anywhere, but of offers I have seen this one is far from the worst.

None of the Leafs offers was as good as this one, Morrow alone is going to be a stud. And he's what Detroit could only dream of at RD.

Agree Larkin seems unlikely to actually move

Pretty broad paintbrush there, especially considering how many objectively prove otherwise. Every team has their "my team is the only team that matters" fans, and you should know that having more than the majority there in Toronto.

I am very curious which "ridiculously huge" package you are referring to. If it was the Knies/ 2023 1st / Kerfoot one, that isn't nearly as big as you think.

It was:

Minten, Fraser
Sandin, Rasmus
2023 1st round pick (TOR)
2024 2nd round pick (TOR)

So very similar to the package listed here. I would put the Leafs one ahead though because I really like Sandin. But they are close. Minten is our 2nd round pick from this past draft if you are unaware. Started hockey late, smart kid, looks to be a good 2 way, #3 C type.

And you are right about me painting an entire fan base with one brush. You are absolutely correct and I apologize! <3

Swap Drury with Pono or Hiemo and I’m good with it.

The best thing about a management team that refuses to overpay dudes going into their 30s. We can easily afford Aho, Larkin, Necas, etc

Yeah i like Drury better than Mitten.

Plus we made it abundantly clear that we don't need Sandin because of our LD strength in our prospect pipeline. We need RD help as our only RD are Seider, Hronek and Lindstrom.

Detroit's LD in the organization or coming up.
1 Simon Edvinsson.
2 Albert johansson.
3 William Wallinder
4 Shai Buium
5 Donavan Sebrango.
6 Jared MacIaac.

And that's just a few sample size of our current LD strength.

Larkin is not available.

Larkin would need to slap Yzerman's momma in the face and insult her lasagna for things to fall apart... this "contention" is 100% a negotiation tactic both ways. Larkin's agent is Brisson and Yzerman is a tough negotiator as well. When Yzerman was in Tampa, Stamkos went all the way to within 3 days of UFA, but they still got a deal done. Yzerman is not going to show his hand and Larkin (rightfully so) wants the most money he can get WITH the Wings. If push comes to shove and Yzerman presents a final offer that risks him actually going to UFA, Larkin will sign it before he walks. I am not concerned in the slightest about a deal being worked out.

This is the most reasonable offer yet for Larkin on this site though... but he's not getting traded, haha

Sandin is a LD where Detroit is stacked with prospects already.

Morrow is a RD where Detroit have very little depth.

Thats a huge difference in what the offer is worth to Detroit right there.

I'm familiar with Minten, although not nearly as much as Leaf fans I would assume. In seeing that, the issue isn't so much "value" as it is other factors.

- Drury and Minten... both B prospects? Drury a bit older, hasn't really stuck although Carolina is stacked. Minten ceiling pretty low. Wash out.

- Morrow > Sandin... Morrow is a RHD prospect with the size SY likes and is looking to be a bonafide player. Sandin is a LHD who has no spot in Detroit. Edvinsson, Wallinder (plays LD/RD), Buium, Johansson, Sebrango, Viro, McIsaac are all coming up through the pipeline and Sandin probably falls between 3 and 4 on the LD depth chart (depending on AJ/SB). Chiarot is also still here for 3 more seasons.

- 2023 1sts and 2024 2nds cancel each other out as both have potential to be 25-32. If anything, Toronto's picks slightly edge out Carolina because it would be taking picks from a division foe.

Seider and Morrow as the 1-2 RD for the next 10 years sounds fantastic (especially considering the lack of RHD prospects). Sandin would have to fight in the trenches against 6'6 #3 ranked prospect Edvinsson and 6'4 #21 ranked prospect Wallinder on the left side. There is your difference.
