Sharks TDL

Created by: Tomas_Hurdle
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 30, 2023
Published: Feb. 2, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Mike Reilly career revival incoming
Trades
1.
SJS
  1. 2025 5th round pick (BUF)
BUF
  1. Labanc, Kevin
Additional Details:
Labanc would be a solid buy low candidate for Buffalo. He's underutilized in the Sharks system, and it's rumored that Labanc and the Sharks have been looking to part ways for a long time.
2.
SJS
  1. Holtz, Alexander
  2. McLeod, Michael
  3. 2023 1st round pick (NJD)
NJD
  1. Meier, Timo
Additional Details:
Meier to NJ just makes too much sense. They have all the assets that the Sharks need, and Timo would flourish alongside Jack Hughes.
3.
SJS
  1. Lohrei, Mason [Reserve List]
  2. Reilly, Mike
  3. 2023 1st round pick (BOS)
BOS
  1. Cicek, Nick
  2. Couture, Logan
Additional Details:
With Horvat off the trade market, multiple insiders have reported that Couture is becoming a trade target for multiple teams. He's a very solid option at 2C, especially for Boston, whose top 2 centers are on expiring contracts.
4.
SJS
  1. 2024 4th round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Reimer, James ($1,125,000 retained)
Additional Details:
He could go anywhere, but Toronto just makes the most sense with Matt Murray being made of tissue paper.

The insider also said couture would attract teams with “retention” and since San Jose is already retaining a lot on burns im unsure if they want to be retaining a significant amount on couture as well.

Considering coutures age I can’t see many teams wanting him for more then 6-6.5 mill especially with the cap not going up a whole lot till 24-25.

So 1. Does San Jose really wanted to be retaining close to 5 mill for 2 years and then 2-2.5 mill for 2 more years after on 2 players?

Also 2. bruins could have interest but considering they didn’t have the cap to resign horvat taking them out of the trade talks really what makes you think they can take on couture? Too many problems with this trade, cap space this season doesn’t work and even couture at 6 mill is a lot to take on, unless B’s plan on moving Carlo, ullmark, grzelcyk for futures and ELC players and hoping guys like bussi, Mast and some of the other young guys can take a big jump and cover their spots I can’t see this trade working out.

In my person opinion the only way I’d be okay with moving lohrei and 23 1st in the same package is if it’s a u25 forward preferably one that can play Center is coming back in return also preferably be on a cheap contract or about to be on a relatively cheap bridge deal

Only guys on San Jose I could see B’s taking a lot at are, bonino, barabanov, megna, gadjovich(additional toughness never hurts) and Labanc with some retention.

Labanc could be intriguing has 20 goal, 40-50 point potential. Would be given good match-ups on the 3rd line and would have hall setting him up and coyle doing the dirty work

1. The bruins aren’t picking Logan couture over David pastrnak.
2. There is absolutely no room on the bruins roster for him.
3. Couture has negative value.
4. From a value perspective, take out lohrei and the first, from a fit perspective, just scrap it.

Boston not interested.

Don’t have the cap next year. Have to shed just to sign Pasta.

Massive, massive overpay.

If SJ chsnges their stance on contract negotiations with Meier’s agent, NJ is likely the leading candidate. If not, NJ may not be as interested. 10 million is a big QO when they have Bratt and a defense to worry about too.

Friedman reported the opposite a little over a week ago

4 days later Lebrun said that no permission was permitted to this point. And that 10 million QO is scaring some teams. Again, the return and who is in it will depend on SJ changing that stance.

At this point because SJ hasn’t gotten an offer they’re comfortable with yet. Basically, Friedman said that once they have an offer they’re comfortable with, they’ll let teams talk extension
