Canes don’t do 1sts for rentals. Bertuzzi has half that value, maybe.

Retaining 1/2 of a 5M AHL player isn’t helpful. That would cost you 2nd per season minimum. Now if he came back up today and was .75 ppg then sure

Drop Nedeljkovic and Edler and that trade works for LA.

Vrana doesn't have much appeal for sj. It's more like Ras or Berggren they ask for. Bert needs to play to be worth anything.

Not saying we’re likely to trade him but Vrana is certainly not an ahler. When he came out of the assistance program his conditioning was dogwater - whatever happened, he just could not keep up. And he didn’t look much better during the conditioning stint, which I think led to us waiving him so that he could continue to get himself back up into playing shape.

He was awful for like the first 8-9 games as a griffin. Only in the last 5 or so has he been starting to look like his old self again.

The optimist in me wants to hope he is progressing well and will be back in the nhl lineup after the ASG and back to his sniping ways. But I personally think it could take a little longer and if we want to move Vrana it may be an offseason thing after a post deadline nhl stint.

Canes might be interested in taking a shot on Vrana…see if they can unlock his 5v5 magic from a few years ago.

What would Vrana cost unretained?

He wasn’t before.. today he is.. like I said, only way someone touches his contract is if he is almost back to normal
