thatttttt would be hard for the sharks to say no, although its hard to say how highly they value Lambert after passing on him at the draft

I'm not going to argue for or against that Johnson trade. It simply just exists.

If they’d prefer a different prospect jets can make that work.

Yeah I figured it was a pretty competitive offer! Fair point on Lambert, I would be fine replacing him with another prospect of similar value.

Hahaha, I just added him for depth and figured he won a cup last year so could provide some playoff experience to the roster.

Why not? You still need to fill out the roster this year and Stanley can be brought back for cheap in a depth role next year. You'll be losing Walman, Oesterle & Hagg most likely. I assume 1 if not both Edvinsson and Wallinder will be up next year but you still need bodies.

tears of joy haha. For sure. Despite some of his more advanced analytics, I have actually liked him this season. I definitely think he has something to give, but I am indifferent on moving him.

Because we already have 5 LD on the roster.

5? After the deadline Määttä, Walman, Oesterle all could be gone. Chiarot is the only one left after that. Stanley is still an RFA as well.

Chiarot
Määttä
Walman
Oesterle
Hägg
Edvinsson
Johansson
Viro
Sebrango
McIsaac

Those are the LD we currently have and next season we will have Wallinder too.

Yzerman is not going to trade all of Walman, Määtä, Oesterle, and Hägg for the simple reason that he's not going to either go hire new players where we already have good ones that can be resigned or start next season with three rookies on defense.

If we are trading one of Walman or Määttä the other one will be extended.

If we are receiving a player back in such a trade then it makes infinitely more sense to ask for a RD where we actually are short of good prospects and not yet another LD where we're stacked.

McIsaac is a carrer AHLer he's had both of his shoulders repaired, his shoulder are probably in worse shape than Fabbri's knees. Oesterle and Hägg are depth players. Wallinder at least 2 seasons out.

Yeah, I forgot about Hägg, but he has an expiring contract as well. It would be a mistake to not sign Walman to an extension, but Yzerman likes to trade the UFA’s that have value.

Why would we start 3 rookies on defense when none of them is ready yet? Edvinsson just started to find his game in NA and the other ones are developing nicely. Why rush them? So…Chiarot is the only one who’s gonna be on the team 100%.

I mean sure, the Jets PK is currently clicking on all cylinders, but do you really want to test it further by adding Austin Watson smile
