Pens decline. Desmith over Allen and they can’t afford his extension next year. Also that’s a huge price

Yeah makes sense over short term but long term looks terrible and price is WAY to steep. (Personally think Allen is upgrade over DeSmith tho)

Bourque has considerably more value than Drouin.

Desmith has been horrible this year when Jarry has been injured. 7 wins and a 3.35 goals against in 22 games.(Allens stats are not better by any means but he is playing behind a horrible team) Pens need to upgrade the back up position, i think they would feel much more comfortable with Jarry and Allen going into the playoffs, with Jarrys injury history.

Monahan will get a 1st(with retention) if he shows he is healthy. So a 2nd and Desmith for Allen is not an over payment in my opinion.

DeSmith has been better than Allen this year, but you're not ready to hear that.

I'm not sure Monahan will get a first unless teams get desperate. At least, not a 2023 1st. The offense is decent, but his defense still isn't great. How much of that is him playing on a bad team and how much of that is his play in general can be debated, but good two-way results are something that Pittsburgh desperately needs in its bottom 6. I think we can find more certain options elsewhere, especially if the price is in the ballpark of a 1st. The health concerns might prevent him from being worth that regardless. We've only got a month until the trade deadline and he's been out for the past 2.
It's a fairly close offer, tbh, but I don't know if it's the best the Pens can walk away with.
