Othmann/Cuylle and one of the 2023 1st's would be the minimum ask for a retained Tarasenko, add to that Barbashev and you add another good piece or two

Although I do agree this is a poor offer, there is no way they are giving Othman/Cuyle plus a first for Tarasenko. I could see them doing this offer but instead of the 2nd they do a 1st and just for retained Tarasenko.

agreed, there is no way they get either Othmann/Cuylle at this point. Considering Tarasenko has a full NMC, he could diminish the return by only choosing 1-2 teams. We did StL enough favors with the Buch trade. They owe us one. Kravtsov+1st rounder is more than enough for Tarasenko w/ retained. Barbashev would be a 4th liner on the rangers rn so they won't pay much to get him.

This is what I would expect, probably with Pajuniemi removed as well. Something around Blais, Krav, later 1st*, maybe a 4th for Tank at 50%. Blues shouldn't put a plus on a guy like Othmann or Cuyle. They don't really need to do so. They have alot of their future top 9 hypothetically mapped out in Buch, Thomas, Kyrou, Snuggerud, Bolduc, Neighbors. 6/9 at this stage is pretty good especially given how well we seem to have been developing mid range talent.

EDIT: that's not to say adding high end forward prospects is a bad thing. But our primary focus should be on defensive prospects that are a year or two out so we can pave the way a bit to ressurecting the defense. The late first is a good avenue to do that. Kravstov could be a good reclamation project as well
