We don’t want Anderson and his contract. Take the capitals pick away and it’s fair deal

Still don’t want Anderson tho

Although that is a lot of pieces for Laf, I just can't see them trading him for mostly "rentals." I do like the 1st Rd pick included but I doubt MON would include that in any trade.

I think most MON fans would see this as an overpay and I think most NYR fans will also think this is an overpay lol

Montreal Canadiens Reportedly Unlikely To Trade Josh Anderson

On TSN’s Insider Trading segment, TSN’s Darren Dreger reported that “the only way” that Anderson is traded is if another club “makes an offer that the Montreal Canadiens simply can’t refuse.” Dreger cites GM Brad Treliving and the Calgary Flames as a team historically that has “expressed interest in Josh Anderson,” but notes that the Canadiens would “prefer to keep” their power forward because he has a long-term contract that the team views as a solid investment.

Winnipeg isn't giving up the better player to get stuck with Hoffman. With no retention Hoffman will cost a 1st to move. He's definitely a negative value asset.

Even though its just a 4th, NJ still isn't trading for Drouin. Maybe for a 7th, but even then, I'd pass.

-Depends how the Caps feel going forward but I think I would take this deal. Anderson and Mantha are very similar players, and while most teams might not love the term on Anderson, the Caps have a ton of contracts falling off over the next 2-3 years and will have plenty of room to play with under the cap. Getting the 1st with him in 2025, when Ovechkin is probably getting ready to move on to the next phase of his career, is exactly what I'd want as a Caps fan. I think Montreal passes on this if the reports of their Anderson demands are true, but personally? I think it makes sense for them - neither Anderson nor Mantha is going to be part of whatever the next contending Habs team will be, so might as well ditch that cap hit sooner than later.

-Rangers pass. Dadonov is dead weight, Monahan doesn't fill a need for them (C is probably their strongest position: Mika - Trocheck - Chytil - Goodrow), and while the younger players & picks are certainly interesting, I don't see them moving on from Laf yet.

-Doesn't make sense for Winnipeg, especially without retention. Hoffman has rebuilt *some* value this year but I just don't see Winnipeg taking him at full freight. I'd hang on to him through the summer (when all of your retention slots you've used here will open back up) and retain him down to $2.25M and send him out to a contender looking for a PP specialist - I honestly think he'll bring back positive value in that type of situation, if he stays healthy and keeps up his level of play.

-Stop me if you've heard this one before: Drouin is hurt and out of the lineup. I can't see any team giving positive value to a guy that is this unreliable. I think the only way you get back any sort of positive return on Drouin would be by paying a 3rd team to retain him down to $1.375M - i.e., the Habs send a 4th & Drouin 50% retained to Team A, Team A sends Drouin with the extra 25% retention to Team B, Team B sends a 3rd to Montreal to get Drouin at a very cheap hit.

I'd rather have one more year of streaky 5.7 million, than 4 more years of essentially the same thing. Caps don't need forwards but a defensemen.

Devils decline. Drouin is washed and the Devils have better uses for that cap space

And with all of that said, probably one of the most reasonable Montreal acgm teams I've seen

Hoffman would certainly help the Jets depth, and has better scoring touch than Barron, but I lean decline cause he still has one year left at 4.5 million and there are some contracts that need to be extended.
