Just seems like he's had too inconsistent of a career to justify a long term deal like this IMO

I'm glad he's found a home in Washington. He was way too skilled to be a passenger.

If Im Washington this is 2 years more than I would like but needed to avoid losing him for a similar deal on the UFA market.

If Ovi likes playing with him, you just don't have a choice.

Don't really like this deal. Way too inconsistent of a player to commit 5 years.

If he keeps playing the way he has, this is great. Nice to see Strome land a longer term deal after bouncing around a bit

There's a case to be made that he was inconsistent with team's that were far from being easy to play in, Arizona's whatever and he then went to the Blackhawks on their way down from being playoff relevant paired with the off-ice raping story dark cloud / media attention on the players night in/night out. Finally playing out for a good team and looked like a decent playmaker.

Decent contract for a 2C. Backstrom is on the decline so the need is there.

Good contract for a decent 2C, should also continue to get better as he enters his prime.

Not a fan of this contract but what's really grinding my gears is that the NHL F***** up. Beniers got replaced by Chandler Stephenson and now the Kraken don't even has a player being represented at the all star game. I'm not a fan of how the all star thing works but if this is how with a player from every team to represent then do it right NHL. Personally I'd prefer the four best players/goalies in the league are team captains and then they draft players to their team and have a lil tourney

Bad contract, don’t think he deserves this much due to him being inconsistent over the past couple of years.

He's looked pretty good, idk if the lack of centers on the free agent market this summer influenced this at all.

I guess I compare this to the deal the Pens gave Rakell earlier this season. It’s a similar deal and I was a little critical at first but Rakell has worked out good so far. Who knows this might turn out to be a real good deal, but there is some risk here I think.
