-If we're using the Horvat trade as a baseline, I can't hate this value for SJ. Zadina is a young, roster-ready player; Vrana is a bigger cap hit than Beauvillier was but has better upside in my eyes, and the 1st/2nd/prospect package is fine. I could see San Jose maybe looking for a little older/closer to NHL prospect, but that's the only quibble. Pretty fair value based on this year's trade market, in my eyes.
-Again, fair value - Edmonton might need some retention on this, though, their cap situation is tight. I think Maata gives them a solid DFD which is something they seem to need right now.
-You can use this retention slot on Maata, IMO - Isles have enough space to take on Kubalik's deal. Personally I'd be annoyed at giving up a 2nd for a guy I wanted Lou to sign over the summer, but c'est la vie - Kubalik would be an upgrade over Josh Bailey as an offensively minded winger that the team desperately needs to help juice an incredibly awful PP. Scratch Panik from the trade as well - he's only a $250K penalty so the cap savings is negligible, and he's playing in Europe this year - so he wouldn't be able to be a healthy scratch for the Wings this year. EDITING: I'd rather keep the 2023 2nd if the Isles wind up giving up this year's 1st; if the cost is a 2nd I'd want a condition that is inverse of whatever the Vancouver condition is (ie, Detroit gets the 2nd rounder in the year that the Isles don't give up their 1st.)
-I like the value but if I'm Pittsburgh I counter with Kapenen & the pick for Suter, no retention - saves you another slot if you want to move another guy (Sundqvist?), and I think Heinen is more valuable as a depth guy to the Penguins than Kap. Willing to defer to Pens fans on that, though.
-I think Erne only gets that 4th with retention, but I can see teams having interest.
