Slightly on the expensive side, as is everything on this site. McLeod getting scratched brings me joy.

I personally believe that Holtz will not be part of the deal, and that any additions to Holtz+1st are overkill. I am in the minority in that opinion, but I feel it is justified based on the Horvat and DeBrincat returns.

Meier is the #1 available target at the deadline and anything less than 1st, Holtz plus would be beat by multiple teams.

Well you're one of the few who thinks Mukhamadulin and a 2nd gets Timo Meier.

I haven’t seen this- there are a few idiots on Twitter who say this but the reality is if Meier comes with an extension anything less than

Holtz
Muk
23 1st (top 5 protection)

Isn’t good business on Griers end. Devils fans shouldn’t complain either because when Graves gets signed and Hughes and Nemec come up there’s literally no room for Muk. Holtz can’t play bottom 6 minutes so he’s expendable as well

Did I say that? Huge difference between this being slightly expensive and that

If Graves gets re-signed I'll be pissed

Grier cannot afford to lose this trade. Breaking even is the minimum but for the sake of the organisation he needs to win this trade. Its a massive move for a small market team with a waning fanbase. He has to get at least one piece that is widely considered a top prospect that is close to NHL ready (Holtz) but he can't settle there. Need high end picks and complimentary pieces too.

What? Why? He’s been awesome all year and he’s old enough where he fits our timeline (27) but young enough where you can give him a 5 year deal and feel good about it

I couldn’t agree more.

Holtz
Shango
1st

Is steep from the devils side but even then I’d take it as a devils fan. But that’s all contingent on a contract being agreed to- not giving that up for a rental (I think we can both agree on that)

He's not that good and will likely be too expensive for a third pair player

Nah if he takes a 5x5 that’s a more than fair, Luke won’t be able to step in and play second pair off the bat, need to have that insurance. Plus, of Bratt we have our core locked up with 36 mil in space (call it 27ish when Bratt is paid). We’re finally good why tinker with anything

We already have a Shango in Barabanov but I suppose two Barabanovs is better then one.

See that's the thing, Luke absolutely will be ready to play second pair right off the bat. He could've done it this season.

Based on what? Offensively he’s awesome but he has a lot of work to do in the defensive side of the puck

Is Quinn Hughes not an effective, if not elite defenseman, despite his complete lack of defense?
