I do like the creativity on the Blue Jackets-Habs deal. Dubious had a great year in the Q and although he can play left wing, he has the size to most likely remain at center if, like all young centermen, he can improve on faceoffs and his defensive game. Does anyone know if Vegas needs to get to the cap floor for their first season, or are they exempt for 1 year? I wasn't sure about that. If the need to reach the floor, then your deal with Vegas definitely makes some sense, but that's a heck of a lot of money to take on for the additional prize of a mid-level prospect. Finally, your numbers are a bit off for some of your free agents, most notable Kovalchu and Alzner, which would still cause problems for your team's cap.

Galchenyuk has proven he can score 30 goals (in a season where he was used mostly on the 3rd line). Dubois hasn't proven anything at the NHL level, and likely requires a couple picks thrown into the deal at least.

Vegas trade again? Sherwood is not incentive enough. Alzner at $3.5 seems low to me? I'm not sure MTL will take PLD in a straight up trade? I'm not sure Kovalchuk wants to play here but that trade actually makes sense. I'm giving you 1 star bc that Vegas trade is horrible.

Um what Dubois had an incredibly underwhelming year in the Q and is looking like a bust
