I don’t know man, moving Bedard is a wild idea. Could work out like the Lindros deal so who knows.

Nah Chicago aint moving Conner Bedard. If the pick for him gets traded that team should be kicked from the league for being dumb.

MTL wouldn’t IMO but like hockeyboy said, it could turn out like the Lindros trade

Philly lost that deal by quite a large margin though.

You would seriously pass on Bedard for this?

If the similar deal was Bedard for Luke Hughes, Nemec, Mercer, Holtz, and Foote I'd do it in a split second. The kid is beyond anything we could think of short of McDavid and that might be a coin flip in 5 years.

I think the habs would have a better shot at a cup with those 5 players rather than just Bedard.

Meant the team trading the Bedard pick for a haul would win.

All you got to do is look at McDavid in Edm. 1 player can not will a team to a cup anymore. Bedard is an amazing player but a package of 5 studs is probably going to do more for you in the long run.

And frankly, I don't think Bedard will be as good a McDavid either so all the more reason why I wouldn't do it. Would be fun though! He's going to score some highlight reel goals in the NHL.

Maybe a great player where the team doesn't throw bad money at mid players would impact that more?

I mean, not the point but yeah, a perfect team with a perfect GM is going to be better than the other. The point remains, McDavid by himself isn't getting it done..... yet at least.

And you are just forming the argument as if Bedard is all the team has. In MTLs case, they have Suzuki and Caufield already.

What exactly are you arguing for? Do you disagree or something Im confused?

McDavid has Draisaitl, Nuge, Hyman, Kane, Nurse and yet they are not walking into the playoffs every year without some struggle. Bedard, Suzuki and Caufield is sexy and all until you look at the rest of the lineup....

My point was simply that I would choose the 5 very good players vs the 1 incredible player. Feel free to disagree.

I would disagree as it wouldn't be as if you'd be guaranteed 4 trash players, and it's also not a guarantee all five of those guys even pan out.

There's also no guarantee Bedard is the next McDavid. So what then? If he is a perennial 30-40 goal scorer, 80-100 point getter, which would be amazing, that's still not enough to put a team over the hump. Even if he matched McDavid, that's not enough. Let's not confuse anything here, I'd love Bedard on my team but I wouldn't trade my entire prospect pool for him.

The two picks this year are in one of the best drafts in recent history. Let say they're Benson and Yager or Barlow who are going to top line contributors, Slafkovsky is going to be a beast, Mesar is probably a top 6-9 if he pans out, Hutson could be the next Adam Fox at the rate he's going... Yeah there is some risk for sure but all of them point to being solid players in the near future. Their combined contribution should be better than Bedard's alone.
