Ideal indeed but maybe Engvall should go the other way for more cap flexibility.

I think Kerfoot would go over Engvall

Leafs fans think minten is some amazing prospect. He's mid. Move him to try and break the first round curse. That depth at C would be huge.

ROR is my target but it won't cost Minten. A 1sy might be enough. ROR had not been great this year. In TO he'd be taking on an easier role than he did in St Louis which should give him easier matchups.

Edmonton should be thrilled if they could have both for the playoffs. I think ROR makes Kerfoot the odd man out. But if they could keep both, that's the best.

ROR was bad this year to begin with and now hes injured. Anybody who trades a 1st for him is just looking for Nick Foligno 2.0.

Why are people ever comparing Foligno to ROR regardless?

Foligno had one season where he was more than a 3rd line center. ROR has a full career of it.

Have heard it multiple times and it puzzles me everytime.

The comparison mainly comes from the fact both were traded while hurt. Now that injury was not what Foligno suffered later but u get it.

But in general ROR is having a down season by his standards and with the recent injury Blues gonna have difficulty getting a 1st considering how deep the TDL Center market is

It’s deep in terms of depth pieces sure. And maybe that’s the route a lot of teams may prefer to go. There really isn’t a comparable to ROR on the market anymore after Horvat going aside from Toews. And its really not a gaurantee either Toews or ROR are moved.

I really don't see the love for the current edition of ROR. He's injured now but before that 16 points in 37 games. A minus 25. Gee, he looks to be a third liner on the Blues.
Who does he replace one the Leafs that makes the Leafs THAT much better?

I think he's a classic example of a past his prime guy being asked to do too much. He's not 29 anymore and it shows. However, in a reduced role vs lesser quality of competition and he could very well be a big impact. He's certainly not getting any easy minutes in St Louis this year. He won't have to do that all the time in TO. He may get some easier matchups and may slide up when the team needs more offence. I think he could be a Gio-esq pickup. Just the perfect fit.

Not sure how he gets "easier" match ups against Tampa and Boston. Leafs don't get the last change in half a the games. Even worse are the trade values the Leafs are always expected to pay.

Because he has Matthews and JT they will be matching up against and Kampf will still take a lot of the defensive zone draws. In TO ROR is the 3C and doesn't need to lead the team. So he'll go against Tampa's 3rd and 4th lines and I bet he come out on top of that battle

Im not claiming they're comparable talent wise. Im saying its the same situation, you're paying the value of a healthy player for a player who is injured and not playing to his capablitlty.

I do t think a broken foot is really as comparable or worrisome as a ligament or a back injury

No, but I don’t think any of the Blues forwards have given that they can’t get a clean exit of their own zone.

It’s very safe to say given how the experiments went with Kyrou that Kyrou and ROR were also not compatible.

Since Perron walked it’s been trying to fit square pegs into round holes for the primary wingman for ROR. Saad has been moved up and down, he is what he is. An extremely streaky finisher. He’s not the cycle player Perron was, and honestly Kyrou isn’t either. But it’s being heavily amplified due to our defense being god awful.
