Try a second round pick for Shenn. No cap dump coming back either.

Canucks decline. A 4th doesn't even cover the cost for dumping Smith, let alone get you Schenn on top of that.

This year sure, but when Krejci doesn't come back next year he could slot in with Pasta and Zacha.

He's a 7th defender, he's not worth a second. I'd say a 4th straight up

But why would we want the guy you overpaid? I'd rather take Chytil and then CHOOSE to overpay him

-Rangers probably think about this - I know they love Chytil, but another 1st gives them a trio of 2023 first rounders, and while they might not be able to get into the top 5 with them, I could definitely see them either getting into the later lottery, or using one of those 1sts to snag something significant prior to the draft. Depends on how they feel about extending Fil, I guess.

-Easy no from Vancouver. Schenn at his cap hit should bring back 2nd round value; Smith is a cap dump for a rebuilding/retooling Vancouver team, so I'd argue that the 4th rounder here only covers the cost of moving his $3.1M hit off your books.

-Obvious no from Arizona. Reilly has another year at $3M and is buried in the AHL right now; Arizona isn't giving you that much cap relief for a pick swap that is moving up 5 or 6 spots - Boston's 2023 4th will most likely be at the end of the round, and Arizona's 2023 5th is going to be in the top 5 barring a miracle turnaround. You gotta give if you want them to make that cap hit disappear for you.
