Sabres trade is more than fair imo
Frankly, all these trades need at least a little more going to you guys

Although the value might be close
Everyone needs to keep in mind that there will be a bit of a bidding war- so be ready to add another good piece to each of these offers
Gonna have to to make the offer stand out above the others

They are realistic. Which is why it's better to re-sign him instead.

What the reason for San Jose to make this trade with Toronto?

The Toronto trade is abhorrent

Buffalo says yes with some protections on the 1st but would add a 2nd

At some point you guys have to stop handing out huge contracts to guys. Vlasic, Couture, Hertl, Karlsson are all going to be making huge money for a while, in their declining years.

You shouldn't do it again, and yes its a shame that its Meier that pays the price here, but its what has to happen in a cap world.

Sharks would do well to get one of Zetterlund, Gritsyuk and Mukhammadulin along with that 1st in a Meier deal.
Getting all for of those pieces for Meier is nothing short of an egregious overpayment however.

Mukhammadulin
Gritsyuk --> Foote / Thompson
Zetterlund --> McLeod
2023 1st
... is a realistic deal

I really don't think Kevyyn is gonna give up that 2023 1st, protected or not. But that is a worthy price (I think Ostlund is going to be a good one.)

While I would normally agree, and we definitely can't be doing max contracts for 29 year olds, if the sharks sign timo to the 8x9 he wants we would definitely be bad, but younger next year. The year after is when a Vlassic buy out is cheapest and we have over 8mil coming off our cap + the cap is expected to rise marginally. Im not saying it's the right or wrong move, but there is definitely a path to success depending on who we draft this year and their timeline. Offering people Timo's age max deals would also be better practice for the sharks

I think the sharks lose almost all of these also agree we should resign him. Like with the leafs one, kerfoot would just move for cap but has no value to the sharks, and im not sure Sandin is worth it. Buffalo could be good trade partners and I know the sharks were very very interested in savoie at the draft.

Word on the street is that Savoie is a non-starter. I think people are underestimating Ostlund.

Ostlund is definitely a fine prospect, I just know that not getting Savoie or Korchinski with their 11 overall is what made the sharks trade back, so he would definitely hold more value in this kind of trade

Agreed but I think one if those pcs becomes less. In this example someone under Zetterlund

I keep hearing Sabres fans say that (about the 1st)
But has Adams said anything about that at all, or are we all just guessing that he doesn’t wanna move it??

Yes that's why I put 2024 1st because Zetterlund is a good piece.

Canes would jump at that I’d hope. I’d imagine the initial ask is Jarvis which canes balk at but would be prepared to give up either Morrow or Nikishin for an extended Meier. Less than those prospects would be a big win for the canes.

The random crap that gets spewed on Hockeybuzz more often than not is just the consensus of a few loudmouths on that site

There used to be a few people there who had sources, but that was years ago

The narrative that gets projected there now is FAR from any type of legit source, & just their personal opinions

Didn’t you used to write for the buzz?
U should already know all this

And for the record,
I’m not saying that Adams will or won’t trade the ‘23 1st
Just wondering if there’s been anything at all from a legit source??

I figured Morrow to be totally untouchable. One of the best defense prospects easily. If he can be had for an extended Timo I don't think Grier would think twice.

All points taken. The thing about Savoie being a non-starter is believable and I did see it there. As for the 2023 first, I worded it properly when I said, "I really don't think..." which is a personal bias. So, no. I really don't have a source for KAGM not wanting to move it but really think it would take a deal strongly in their favor to move it instead of the 2024 1st.
