Description

Stone out until post-season (hopefully returns for it, but sounds like it's not a guarantee). Frees up a lot of cap, that must be utilized by a trade to boost this struggling team.

Meier and Benning are the two targets I think can be attained that would help this team. Meier is an interesting one, because he'll be an RFA at end of season. While I don't think Vegas can resign him (although there could be a way if Karlsson/Martinez continues to underwhelm), they can then recoup some assets at TDL.

Meier is gonna add that scoring Vegas desperately needs. Capable of scoring from all over the ice and will make the top line (Meier-Eichel-Stone) formidable all over the ice.

Benning will add a lot of defense to Vegas, who has struggled in their end quite a bit since December. Not super

Additional Details:

While not 100% sure how true it is, I've seen report saying that the sharks are looking for a 1st, 1 high level prospect (or two mid-level) and a game ready player for Meier. Brisson, depending on who you ask, is a fringe high-prospect. Miromanov is a throw in for the 2nd prospect. Both Howden and Miromanov make SJS roster most likely.

I would imagine that Benning, even though he is statistically playing well, is probably a fringe 2nd pair or solid 3rd pair guy. Saville (playing very well in minors) and upgrading a second rounder to another first should cover it.

I would be very surprised if this offer for Meier was not beat. Nothing that would really excite San Jose unless Grier is super high on Brisson for some reason.

I'm not saying Meier goes for more, I'm just saying I think he goes for something that's better for San Jose.

i'd say no, saville is looking good and could run a good tandem with LT in the future, as is Miro for our d-core and brisson will be an essential bottom 6 (maybe top 6) player for us, which we sorely lack

My reasoning for these players is that the window is clearly closing. What good is a d-core, goalie tandem, or a good player in the forward line-up when the team isn't trying to win? They'll all be trade pieces by then anyway, while also not really being an essential piece of the roster during the window. I think they'll all be good players, but may be better utilized in a trade now than a rebuilder later.
