I was just asking in a Arizona gm about him. What do you think his value is?

Problem is…on ACGM, the price of Anderson is the same as the price of Meier.

Acquiring Anderson for free would be pretty damaging lol

I cant be more specific than "a pick"... Depends on offer and demand.

I guess Klingberg and Maata are also on the market, but Gost's play seems to be better right now.

Ultimately, Kulak went for a 2nd+ last TDL, so who knows! My guess: 3rd/4th with some kind of retention.

Come on man...

Value, as reported:

Anderson: 1st+
Meier: 1st, A prospect, young NHLer with some control (Horvat return) +

And you cant put aside Anderson has contract certainty and Meier is entitled to a 10M contract next season. Most teams not called Vegas or Toronto prefer to spread caphits through their roster. Like NJ should do here to avoid cap hell.

5m is a lot for a replacement level forward, and we need that money to sign our RFAs

I don’t agree with it at all. NJD fans see a lot of trades for both players and the asks are largely indistinguishable.

In my view, Anderson probably gets a decent piece with a big chunk of his salary retained. And I imagine Kent was rejecting the retention, not the pick.

I dont get it. The reported price is all over the place yet ppl here think it's either funny or they are trolls to deny it. It's so childish.

You can see rumors everywhere. For my part I only consider reports from known insiders and staff, or sometimes agents/ex-players/beat journalists.

As for Anderson's return, Hugues himself said retention was not an option. Lebrun's report about him refusing a 1st could mean A) he wanted a second asset, or B) the pick was prejected too low (28th to 32nd).

Makes even less sense to sign Meier for close to double the caphit then isn't it.

Thank for providing argument toward my point.

Anderson instead of Meier would leave much needed cap money to sign their RFAs...

The problem is those guys slot in as our 3rd pairing LHD and 4th line RW respectively.

The devils don't need to trade for a defensemen at all.

Josh Anderson is not good, I'd rather play Bratt, Mercer, Yegor, Fabian, Tatar, Palat over him as wingers. I don't think he brings much more than Bastian who's cheaper. I'd rather let Holtz get minutes.

5.5 million on a 4th line player will prevent us from resigning at least one of Graves, Severson, or Tatar, all of whom are better than Anderson.

LET ALONE GIVING UP A 1ST PLUS, which is apparently the ask.

Meier: an elite player who would slot onto either the 1A line with hischier or the 1B line with hughes (they'll split Bratt/Hischier/Meier/Hughes into 2 and 2) and PP1.
Anderson: a below average player who would slot onto the 4th line and PK2.

3 million dollars and keeping Yegor Sharangovich/Fabian Zetterlund doesn't make up that difference

you get into cap hell by giving below average players like anderson 5+. Not by giving star players 8.5.

You lost me at Anderson is a 4th liner.

You made a fool of yourself when you wrote Tatar is a better player.

Come on people, watch some games sweet Jebedyah.

I'm not sure of this whole "good contracts don't count to get to $82.5M". We must have different maths up here in Canada🇨🇦

And good luck to get Meier at 8.5M AAV.

Tatar has 8 more points, a +/- thats about 30 better, and ranks SECOND in the league in on ice xgoals%.

Way better defensively, knows how to make a pass to a player thats on his team.

Per the athletic, Tomas tatar value based on his play this year is 8 million, Josh anderson is NEGATIVE 0.3 Million

Josh anderson isn't a good contract. It's an albatross of a deal that would prevent the devils from keeping their actually good players

Last time Tatar was in montreal he was at 0.6 ppg in his last year, 0.9 the year before that, and 0.73 the year before. call me when anderson gets there at any point in his career

It's the ole.. we can do it philosophy, dont mind the alternative.

Don't worry we'll sign Johnny Gaudreau with our cap space. Signs elsewhere.

Don't worry we'll trade for Timo Meier. Ignores Math and bidding competition

The delusion.

Call me silly, but I prefer to compare both players now.

We are done here.

Good luck on Thomas Tatar 2023-2024 rebound season.

Okay, right Tomas tatar is playing significantly better on both ends of the ice, (they aren't remotely comparable defensively), Tatar is putting up more points despite getting less ice time, while dominating play (in both xGoals% and goals%.

I dont have the current JFresh card but

and this "back to before" references when he was 94% WAR in montreal
meanwhile josh anderson
