Description
When it comes to making a fair trade at the end of the day…..do you say no to these packages? Obviously the pick given would be the ‘23 1st rounder and you substitute Mukh/Grits/Casey in whatever way suits you best. This is after all the #2 rated prospect pool in the NHL, and the names involved in these proposals are #3-6 in our system. Hardly table scraps like SJBACKSEATGM would have you believe.

Devils should take neither of these. I don't think he will cost that much.

I think those are both slight overpays.

Is the price not one of: an A prospect + a 1st
    2 B prospects + a 1st
    B Prospect + good young roster player + a 1st

If it absolutely can't get done without paying that much I'd be hesitant to make the move, but wouldn't be mad if the devils did it.
Ideally taking out Shakir/Gritsyuk from the trades.
If needed potentially replace one of the B prospects in the trades with a slightly lower end prospect like Walsh or Foote, or maybe Yegor with a slightly worse player like Zetterlund

That’s not a debate I’m attempting to open here. I’m offering my personal maximum on what I believe to be a fair, bidding war max value TDL deal.

Then you're way undervaluing Holtz and Casey

Look you get Timo Meier at the end of the day, and it’s for the long term. It’s not a rental. We need to be realistic about this. It’s going to cost us a pound of flesh to make it happen. BUT I will not concede and give into the L.Hughes/Nemec/Mercer nonsense being thrown around.

It’s not that I undervalue them. I firmly believe in Holtz and I don’t actually want to trade him. Casey is a B+ prospect at this stage. But this is reality, we will have to move some of our better prospects here.

All reports I've seen indicate that something like 1st, Muk, Sharakgovich would get the job done

As much as I’d love to see that, I just don’t think it gets this over the finish line. Think from our organizations point of view……arent Casey, Mukh, and Grits blocked from the big roles they should be getting? They’re all massive for us, but as trade bait. Use them here. Get the guy we want, and call it a day.

Sharks fans would be excited for the 1st trade. Anything less feels like a loss. We're looking at quality over quantity. We just don't have enough top-end prospects outside of Bordeleau & Eklund. Adding a high end defensemen like Mukh helps.

Also, this gave me a good laugh "Hardly table scraps like SJBACKSEATGM would have you believe."

Something like that imo. With Meier signing 8 x 8.75 as part of the trade since they can negotiate with him right now

I've been saying for a while I'd be happy with that as a Sharks fan.

It is concerning Holtz isn't playing though.

Just a guy struggling with the pace the devils play at, he had a much better second run in December, he looked much better speed wise. But I cannot stress the HUGE issue here with Holtz is the lack of top line minutes. He’s been given essentially no time with Palat/Hughes since the preseason. And mind you he was playing VERY WELL with them. 10 minutes of ice time with the 4th line every night has been what he’s been given so far. It’s not indicative of the player he is/going to be.

Neither of the prospect rankings (THW and Athletic) have dropped him for it. He's too good for the AHL but not quite ready for the NHL.

Hope he's not turning into a quadruple A player.

If he was 24, you’d be right in that suspicion. But not at 21. He’s in the same position Timo Meier was at that age. Just struggling getting his pace adjusted to the NHL. The shot is elite, he’s scored highlight reel goals last season. We can be patient, let him grow, and reep the rewards if we choose.

if thats what it takes, and the alternative is him ending up a rag or a hurricane, I'd take my medicine and make the move. I think he can be had for less tho. Not much less, but maybe just downgrading the quality of the second prospect in those deals.

This is an insane return to the Sharks Csick.
I cannot see anything like it happening when Meier eventually gets moved.

I can see it because the sharks are allowing teams to negotiate and he will come with an extension.
