I love the hilarity of sneering at a player's worth and then putting him on the first line.

Henrique cleared waivers in February 2021. Not this season; not last season; but during the 2020-2021 season, when he also represented Canada at the World Championships. Anders Lee stank that season and Brock Nelson averaged 0.6 points per game, so your reliance on history isn't very impressive.

and where else is he playing on this team? The Isles have Josh Bailey at 1LW and every other line is set as of right now.

Im a big fan of Henrique but thinking hes worth a crazy amount is just your bias showing, especially nowadays where everyone is afraid to add cap space.

Ottawa declines, would probably need more value since we could get more at the deadline

Then why do you want him?

Since when is a first-round draft pick "a crazy amount" for a guy who is a team's leading goal scorer, is the team's best faceoff man, kills penalties, comes with 50% retention or a cap offset as you have here, and still has a year left on his contract after this season?

Apparently, the knowledgeable Colorado fans who have settled on their 2024 first as the proper price for Henrique disagree with you, and Toronto adherents have also posted ACGMs with him for a first. So this has nothing to do with MY bias.

Let's not ignore that in most scenarios where Ducks fans here want a 2023 1st the trade includes 50% retention for this season and next. You didn't ask for retention which impacts the trade a bunch BUT you want to offset that by dumping Bailey. He's a useless waste of 5M in cap next season for the Ducks and you're going to have to pay for that.

Bailey is half the player that Henrique is (or less!) for nearly the same cap. A 7th defenseman and two 3rd round picks don't both get Henrique and get rid of Bailey. Christ, I'd want a 1st round pick just to take Bailey given that he has another year.

My point exactly. Ancient history (because two full seasons is ancient in hockey time) has nothing to do with on-ice or trade value today.

Yeah ik just wanted to point that out, he also wasn't awful that year bc he was on pace for 36 goals in an 82 game season
