good bottom pair guy, offensively skewed but good transition D. If he can improve in his own end this will be a steal, if he is what he is this is a fair to good deal

Nothing against the player, but if this is Muzzin replacement, as of now, TML is in big trouble.

Was never meant to be Muzzin's replacement, he's likely Holls replacement.

If you want to classify someone as Muzzins replacement, it's likely Sandin. He's still got some growing to do, but he's doing well.

Timmmmma Timmmma! I always liked him as an Avs fan, I watched him at a couple different prospect tournaments and he was awesome there. His career was really set back with the serious injuries but the future is bright for this young man!

Good, low-risk signing. He’s not the missing piece they needed for their defence, but he’s made a good contribution so far, and he’s young enough that he could still move up in the depth chart. With the right partner he could shine. But I don’t think it’s a coincidence that his cap hit is just under the amount that can be 100% buried if he ends up in the minors. That leaves them free to replace him if they find somebody better.

with all the injuries hes had and development time missed, this could be a very good signing. Not your usual 3rd pairing guy-but he could be a decent top 4 with some development (and good health). Low risk for the Leafs.

Can't defend, incredibly soft. He is another Tyson Barrie

And if we had Tyson Barrie for 1.1 million to play pp2 and third pairing minutes at the bottom of the line up that wouldn't be a bad thing. No team is built out of 12 first line forward and 6 top pairing defenseman. This is a third pairing defenseman signed for #6 money...

Think there are some comments here I agree with. Think this is a good deal for Toronto Money wise and what Timmins gives, but it's another pure offensive guy which Toronto simply does not need.

Good signing. Extra year here is the key. They are buying some upside, as he has looked like his potential might be a bit more than bottom pairing D. That term gets thrown around, but the way I look at it is, if Timmins is capable of playing top 4 on a mediocre team, but a contender would want him to be a #5, basically a bottom pair guy that slides up and fills in admirably during injuries, slumps etc, then this is a great value for that player. If he isn't that player, this isn't an overpay for a pure 3rd pair guy, and if he slides further, he can be fully buried.

He is young, and missed out on important developmental years, so if he really continues to develop, the 2nd year of this deal has some decent value, even if it's trade value.

Don't like this signing. Extending another non physical defensemen, he will fit right in

He is physical, regardless, good contract for his skillset and a solid player overall
