You don't have a prayer if you're not including a 1st or a top prospect.

Why are you sending that package to Arizona when you could send them a 7th to retain another $1.875M of ROR's contract and fit under the cap??

Do you think ROR returns more than Tarasenko did?

ROR has less than 0.50 ppg and has been b a d defensively. Considering the package u guys just got for a ppg winger this is not bad whatsoever

He also has no trade protection and he has pedigree, which you may (rightly) roll your eyes at but don't pretend like GMs don't pay for that stuff. The Blues got a 2023 first for a guy who also hasn't been good and who could dictate exactly where he wanted to go. O'Reilly almost certainly will get the same, if not more.

This trade stinks.

Puljujarvi + 1st would be more. Edmonton's 1st is currently 22nd, Dallas' is 28th. And Puljujarvi is an RFA while Blais is a UFA.

I think that's probably why the OP went with 2nd+3rd, to be slightly under the Tarasenko return.

I guess, but Puljujarvi is taking back more salary than the Blues are in this trade, and him being an RFA with a QO of 3 million dollars as opposed to a UFA isn't really working in his favor either, even if he is a significantly better player than Blais.

But ultimately I just think there will be more demand for O'Reilly with Horvat off the table. That's what's going to drive his price up, and it's independent of the Tarasenko thing, which as I said came with a lot of caveats like his NTC.

I love how people bring up Valdi as a ppg winger (one of the last 5-7 years) so he should get a better package than a “bad” defensive O Ry (first time in forever). Like, ignore the past when it benefits the logic you apparently have. Lol

Probably. It will be the same if not more. Tarasenko had final say on where he went. ROR doesn't have a no trade clause. The Blues wanted to trade Vladdy, they don't necessarily want to trade ROR but will depending on return. Above does not move the needle at all.

RoR is worth a second rounder with 50% retention. He is at 3rd line center production.

Offer is terrible and you know it. If ROR is so bad, why do you want him? ROR wins in the playoffs and shut down Nathan Mackinnon last year. There will be 10 better offers than the above...

First rounders have a higher value this year. ROR is playing poorly compared to last year. There are 16 playoff teams, there are not 10 managers willing to spend a first. There might be one which is Colorado but they don’t even have a second line center. Nobody is pending a first for a third line center.

Ok - I will bet you that if the Blues trade ROR - they get a 1st or and equivalent prospect in return. You can come back and admit you were wrong when it happens, or I will if I am
