I think he just wanted to retain 1.5 mil and didn’t do it by percent

LA declines. Edmundson is bad and not worth a quality prospect like Turcotte.

Correct. Iy was to make the trade more palatable for a prospect like Turcotte

I fail to see the point of giving up a bottom 6 forward for another bottom 6 forward while retaining money next season on a trade chip. Turcotte wont come close to the potential promised as a number 5 overall.

Although I do agree Eddy isn’t worth Turcotte, turcotte’s form is really bad. There is Heineman which imo, could become Lekky 2.0. This trade could be worth it for LA. It depends on the D market this TDL, and how much LA thinks they could win the cup, don’t forget that Eddy is a playoff guy, that is where his big body is most useful

We have your old GM, do you think he'd advise Blake to overpay for Edmundson?

If Edmonton get's Gavrikov or Chychrun or McCabe, the market of teams after Edmundson is basically us, and we aren't even that interested. We'd give up a third at this point, he has been awful this season and still is signed into next season.

Heineman, Turcotte is a toss up. Heineman's size is more attractive to the Habs current roster not to mention Turcotte's own injury history after turning pro too early is a concern.

The KIngs would easily make this deal as Eddy could be flipped to another team even if they werent interested in him, he's a confirmed trade chip w/Stanley Cup pedigree and cost certainty

No they really wouldn't.

Turcotte's development was set back by several fluke injuries and illnesses, but since he has been healthy, he has looked really good. He was impressive during the Kings road trip just before the all star break. The Kings aren't going to sell low on him now.

He's waiver exempt for another full season, so there's no reason why they need to rush a decision on him. If the Kings were to trade a prospect for someone, they'd be sending out one of the guys whose waiver exemption expires this summer (Kupari, Madden, Thomas, ****emo, Dudas), not Turcotte.

In what way is Joel Edmundson superior to Alex Edler, who is 1/5 the cost?

You are asking the wrong question. There is zero reported interest in Edler. You can find reports about Edmundson's interest anywhere you sneeze.
