I think Mike Grier probably has a solid chuckle, but that's just my opinion.

Agreed. He's definitely not Yakupov...more of a Pierre Engvall lite...

(I'm kidding, but the video comparisons are definitely funny...)

sorry but that’s putting all their eggs in1 basket and hoping he pans out better than Meier and i’m not sure he ever surpasses the bar Meier has set this year. but i could be wrong.

I think SJ accepts this in a heartbeat, Hughes tells the sharks GM to beat it though

Sorry, meant it as a "He chuckles because that ain't it". I certainly don't think you're getting a higher ceiling prospect than Slaf in a trade, but I completely agree that you need multiple darts instead of just 1.

Meier is realllll good.

Agreed, if Montreal went bidding for Meier I think my ask would be 23 1st, Heineman, Mailoux, and possible another 24 pick 2nd or 3rd rounder. not sure Montreal does that but it gives the sharks more options and lightens the risk of all you hope for a good return being with just 1 albeit good prospect.

Habs decline in a heartbeat. If Slaf keeps his head up, which I think is not something that is that hard to improve, it is more of a habit, Slaf will become an elite, 85+ point player, and a pain to defend. You just look at him play and know that the big issues are just adjustments.

Yeah, that was unfair to nail. He was MUCH better in his rookie season

I think you gotta stop drinking before posting. I mean that more from a Montreal dolling out a big contract point than the trade itself.

HABS never do that Trade. They are looking to add 1st rd picks for 2023 at the TDL

This trade was proposed by George Laraque. I think he had too many when he said the HABS need to do this trade on the Sick Podcast

I mean, if they got some sort of extension worked out (unlikely) I could see whichever of their 1sts that was lower, and a package like that being something that Montreal did (Though they won't...)

I am well aware! but this post was Adding Meier so I offers my “if” statement. and “if”’montreal wanted Meier that’s what i would expect the ask to be.

think Montreal would keep the better of the two picks, but honestly now is not the time for you guys to add, better to stockpile high picks and prospects and rebuild for a better long term window.
Team has some real young star talent but could use a few pieces (legit Price replacement, top 6 power forward and 2-3 D) but there are good pieces there to build around.

Montreal shouldn’t want to give up their recent first overall pick, and they should have absolutely no desire to acquire meier. They stink, and they’re going to stink for a while. They should be selling, not buying.

Agreed they should be selling but when a piece is available and in the HABS 3 year plan. Meier makes sense or something of similar value

Habs will have plenty of cap space next year and the year after, their under 23 pool of players is getting stronger and their dead weight contracts are starting to expire. it’s not a crazy take, but unless Montreal has soured on Slaff this isn’t a smart deal for them, and if they have it’s not a smart move for the sharks.

3-year plan? I don’t think they can turn it around that quickly. But either way, does $10M+ Timo Meier really make you eager to make this move?
